New Bath Hotel & Spa, a member of Radisson Individuals
8/10 Good
"Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. There was a glitch in the admin system which meant it thought I hadn't paid, paid again and then got to room, checked and went back to rectify and said it could take up to 6 days to refund. The room was boiling even though there was a fan in the room, they had no extra fans to help with the warmth which was nearly unbearable on day 1. The room was for 3 people but only set up for 2. You can see the effort they are putting into the hotel and they're doing a great job of it. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choices. We didn't know the facilities in the spa were not working and we're not told upon checking in however the weather was perfect for the lido thankfully which is a lovely asset. Would definitely return but take an extra fan if hot weather is expected."

Gulliver's Resort Matlock Bath
10/10 Excellent
"I booked a comfort room as it was just myself and my partner staying. We arrived earlier than check in so parked to car in the car park and carried on with our day. Reception and most of the accommodation is up a steep hill. At check in time the receptionist was lovely and gave us all the information needed. Our accommodation was back down near the bottom of the hill and had own parking area. The block looked and felt pretty new it was called willows and was all wind in the willows themed. Our room was called rabbit, it was very clean and couldn’t fault it at all. Would definitely stay there again"

Florence Nightingale Suites at Lea Hurst
10/10 Excellent
"A very special place to stay as this was the family home of Florence Nightingale. We stayed in two bedrooms which were the rooms that she grew up in before she went to Crimea. This is not a hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a few of the rooms rented out on a nightly basis. The property is accessed through several gates so it’s on very private land. The views are amazing of the local countryside and there’s a very beautiful garden around the house and sheep in the fields a little further away. The host at the House house may change in the future but we had a lovely lady from Ukraine called Svitlana who made us most welcome staying at the house. She made us a wonderful breakfast in the morning to order and did everything we asked to help and made our stay very pleasant. Beware there are no TV in the bedroom but there was a TV in the lounge downstairs. Some of the downstairs rooms could be used for an intimate breakfast with great views into the countryside. The Location was perfect for visiting Matlock and Matlock Barth with the attractions of Abraham Heights, fish and chip shops along the river Derwent, etc and it was a 30 minute drive to Chatsworth and Bakewell and Haddon Hall. Overall I would highly recommend a few nights at this location especially given the hospitality from Svitlana and the historic nature of the house"
