Visit Mystic Mountain in Ocho Rios to get an alternative view of Jamaica's incredible natural rainforest. Soar above the canopy in a chairlift before flying through the trees on a zip line or bobsled ride at breakneck speeds in this unique adventure park.
The fabulous forests and coastline of Ocho Rios are some of Jamaica's most beautiful and you can experience the most awe-inspiring views of this part of the island from atop Mystic Mountain, 214 metres above sea level. Hop on the chairlift at the entrance to the park and watch as the rolling green hills and sprawling coast fall away and you ascend to the top.
You might need a head for heights to get the most out of this attraction but it also caters for more faint-hearted visitors with a café, restaurant and family-friendly swimming pool at the summit. The park's signature ride is definitely the Bobsled Ride, inspired by the Jamaican Olympic team. Climb into these custom-built sleds to whizz down a kilometre of rainforest at unbelievable speed.
When you've looped back to the top you can take the Canopy Zip Line to glide through the forest with a guide who will tell you all you need to know about the history, flora and fauna of the stunning surrounding landscape. This ride is more on the relaxed side, although there are a couple of exhilarating vertical drops.
After all that adventure, relax in the tranquil Hummingbird sanctuary before taking a dip in the infinity pool while the kids enjoy the 75-metre water slide. Mystic Mountain is situated in the north of Jamaica, a short drive from Ocho Rios, and is open every day. You can get there easily by taxi or transfer bus from the major hotels and there's plenty of parking if you decide to hire a car.
Children's tickets are cheaper and it's best to book the Sky Explorer and Bobsled Ride online ahead of time as they have limited capacity.
