My boyfriend and I stayed in the star class directors suite. The room was beautiful but there was no view and it was very loud. We could smell the sewage after running water for the shower or bathtub, it was absolutely disgusting. We also could hear doors closing and people stomping on the floor above us. A huge issue for me was the star class was pretty much nonexistent! Only 2 bars would serve premium alcohol and most of the time they were out of the good stuff. Also the food wasn’t great, the rice at every restaurant was hard. The pool was very underwhelming and pretty small, and the pool chairs should have been cleaned daily, they were full of bird crap. The worst part about this resort other than the lack of premium alcohol was the beach. This was the worst beach I have ever saw in my entire life. It was disgusting, the chairs were ran down, the grounds weren’t kept at all, there was no bar AND there was also crocodiles there. They shut the beach down one day because of crocodiles. Also everything is egregiously priced, they were charging $100 to smoke hookah and the gift shop was insane! If you must stay here I strongly suggest that you DO NOT get star class. It is not worth it at all! Definitely stay elsewhere is possible.

Lock up your belongings! We had a pair of Beats stolen from our room the first night we arrived. The hotel filed a report but seemed less than concerned in getting to the bottom of it. Upon leaving they promised to follow up with us on the “investigation” but we never heard from them again. The food isn’t great even for all inclusive standards. Only good food was the Italian restaurant. Most of the staff was unfriendly, rude and not accommodating with the exception of the guys that drive the golf carts around. They were always nice and speedy to pick you up if you called for a ride. Room was ok, needed a deep clean and the beds are hard. We will not be returning to this resort.

Poor beach. Do not come here for the beach. With a few notable exceptions (Edu & Alanzo @ Point Break the sequel really hustled and took care of us, thanks guys. And my last day Alan at the Star bar really knocked it out of the park)) service was lackluster overall. To be fair our mini bar was refilled and ladies who "cleaned" the room each day did ok. Just no actual vacuuming and minimal besides making beds. Had to ask each night for extra towels despite leaving a note in Spanish next to our tip. Facilities are worn. No air conditioning in the restaurants. We walked out of our last dinner because it was so hot and our waiter was not paying any attention. Needed to ask 2-3 times to get a water refill or some ice all over the resort. Ran out of coconut cream at all pool bars...on my tropical vacation! Yet the next day the drink of the day featured coconut cream... Service prior to staying was awful. No response to my 2 e-mails and my international call requests-once I was able to get a working phone number-met with nos. No we will not email you spa or restaurant menus. No we cannot confirm king vs 2 Q beds until you are here. No you cannot make a dinner reservation for your arrival night. This was our first and last stay at a Planet Hollywood resort. Do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else.

Beautiful modern property with great dining options! Service at Italian restaurant has lots of room for improvement. Our favorite was the Mexican!!! Star category definitely worth the added $$$ as personal assistant makes your dinner reservations every day :) and you get unique access to breakfast at Mexican restaurant, which was excellent!!!

Overall the resort experience was just Ok. Negatives: The first thing I’ll say is the food here is pretty terrible. Probably one of the worst food experiences I’ve had at an all-inclusive resort in this budget range. The pool was also a little underwhelming since there were no direct views of the beach (covered by trees). The bars are NOT clean and it doesn’t seem like they take the best sanitary measures to clean their equipment. Everything is worn out including the cups they serve the drinks in, the upholstery on the beach chairs, etc. Also the wait time for drinks is pretty excessive. One side note is the soda they serve is from the plastic bottles and not from a dispenser so since the bottle is being opened and closed so often all the carbonated beverages are flat. The beach itself isn’t really what you would expect from a tropical island (water isn’t that blue) and not the most fun to swim in. Positives: Although there is a steep hill from the lobby to the pool area the golf cart shuttles are VERY frequent where it doesn’t become an inconvenience. They do a fantastic job of transportation. Views from the building where the lobby is are beautiful. The rooms are very nice, clean and spacious WILDLIFE: Contrary to other resorts I’ve been to in DR, Cancun, and Jamaica there are a lot of little animals that keep you entertained. Especially the white faced monkeys in between the pool and the beach. Also iguanas, parrots, and a plethora of other birds!

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your PH resort, and I regret to say that my experience fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, despite being given a room number, I was asked to return later for check-in, which was inconvenient. Additionally, encountering issues with room access and finding the property somewhat outdated were disappointing aspects of my stay. While the staff were commendable, the inconsistencies in drink quality and the underwhelming dining experiences detracted from the overall enjoyment. The lack of clarity regarding dining reservations and the revelation about reservation privileges for "STAR MEMBERS" only added to the frustration. As a solo traveler affiliated with a travel agency, such oversights significantly impacted my experience. Furthermore, the disappearance of my jacket from my rental car, which I intentionally in my vehicle during, though I hesitate to insinuate theft, was concerning and left a negative impression. In light of these experiences, I feel compelled to express my disappointment and would hesitate to recommend the property based on my stay. I hope this feedback proves valuable in enhancing the guest experience at your esteemed resort.

PH Costa Rica 🇨🇷 was an excellent experience. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. I never felt like they were there doing a job. They always made us feel welcome and happy to accommodate us. Very clean and safe, food was pretty good for an all-inclusive resort. Beautiful views and beach!

Loved the welcome drink and clapping when you walk in with the cocktail! Definitely made a great first impression to make us feel special. Resort was very clean and nice. Only cons I would say is poor service at restaurants. You’re going to have to ask multiple times to only get half of what you want. Also there was no air conditioning in any of the restaurants or very very little so the only place you can go to cool down is the lobby or your room. Sucked sweating just trying to eat a nice dinner. Lots of elevation so walking from pool to room or to restaurants is difficult. Have to wait for golf carts to get you.

Safe gated resort, and security guards. Great shows and pool entertainment, not a very walkable resort, you’ll be waiting for the transport carts, sometimes up to 45 min. The restaurants were great and the buffet had lots of options, but everything closes early, not meant for nightlife. activities geared more towards kids and families, no adult only areas to relax. Confirm with the hotel directly for the amount of beds required in your room, Expedia does not finalize your request with the hotel. Friendly attentive staff and monkeys on the beach!

We must give a big shout out to the bartenders (Paola, Yassira (lobby/lounge) and Jeremy (The Trainee at the pool) best drinks we had at the resort hands down! They made our experience great! Ultimately, we give those three individuals "STAR CLASS" customer service! STAR CLASS experience...we did not purchase for an additional cost just to have access to make reservations at restaurants and to drink premium alcohol was NOT WORTH IT! In addition, the guest that had STAR CLASS all complained about the food not being good and ended up eating again at the cafeteria buffet. The TIMESHARE guy - Called us as soon as we got in our room and wanted to come and meet us. Ultimately, he is fighting for a promotion and asked us to come to this event for an hour to check out the selling pitch. Before the event occurred that Friday (we arrived on Wednesday), he promised me all these things the resort was going to do for me because my birthday was on Saturday. Before Friday, we felt the resort was not a brand we saw ourselves investing in and ultimately canceled. Do you think they acknowledged me on my birthday, even though, I also informed them that we was celebrating my birthday! So my wife and I ran into him several times after we canceled and he walked by us without speaking so unprofessional. Housekeeping: Several guess complained about items being taken from the room such as medicine. In summary, if you're not STAR CLASS they treat you unfairly and I advise you stay elsewhere.

We had Henry and Pamela for our star club personal attendants and they were wonderful ! The performers they had were amazing . The trapeze and fire performances were really incredible .

I had a great time here at Planet Hollywood. When we first arrived they greeted us with drinks and were very nice and helpful. The staff was actually amazing! I stayed at building 18 with a beautiful ocean view. This is the best place because it’s close to everything-pool, beach, lobby etc. The trams are running nonstop so if you don’t want to walk they will be there in 5 min or so. I even had my own personal concierge who called me daily to ask if I needed anything, it made me feel very special on my birthday. I stayed on the property for the most part to eat since the food was still very authentic Costa Rica. The only time I left the property was to go zip lining at Witch’s Rock Canopy Tour. They were so good, and only 15 minutes away. I got a private session and all the celebrities like Jimmy Kimmel, Lady Gaga and more go there and they pick you up and drop you off. I highly recommend. As far as planet hollywood, this is a fun place! Food is great, staff is great, rooms and views are great. I came with my bf and we had a good time but if you want quiet and romantic, this is more of a family place. There’s a lot of kids everywhere but you can find places on the property that are kid free. We had zumba workouts, karaoke, dance party and even a performance by Queen, I can’t wait to come back! A special thanks going out to my faves Rebecca (front desk), Erich-masseuse, all the zumba instructors and the pool dj-Jeffry, Esteban, Katty, the cute and more! Thanks Planet Hollywood!

This resort is excellent. The property is well maintained, the rooms are updated, and the food is good. This resort is located on a beach and the pool area is awesome. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. Our favorite waiter was Jeremy. He was so accommodating and always checking in. We had an amazing time at this resort.

The staff is not friendly and seems unwilling to provide service, Front desk staff is so bad and mean. Even though when I check out time, call the cart but waited long time so I had to drag my luggage and walk to the lobby. They only ask for additional service, even though it is an All inclusive resort. The room smells so bad that is difficult to sleep well. The food in the regular restaurant is poor. Fortunately the buffet restaurant was the best, so I visit three time a day. I don't think it's an appropriate resort fo relaxation.

I traveled here in January of 2024 with my two sons ages 20 and 23. It was an all around wonderful experience. We were swept out of our private airport transfer, our bags were taken from us, we were given drinks, directed to the red carpet for a photo and all of the staff clapped for us. What a beautiful welcome. The property is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Check in was very easy. It seems that all of the suites are ocean facing? I did not realize ours would be and it was, so that was a really nice surprise. I highly recommend building 18 second floor for your stay. It is close walking distance to Both the pool/beach and the main building with an excellent view of the ocean and the pool. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. My sons were constantly entertained at the pool during the day by the staff and the activities and in the evening with the activities. We were not Star class and that was fine for us. We were able to find shady spots at the pool each day and there were plenty of shady spots to sit on the beach also. Maid service was top notch. I'd say this is a mid level all inclusive resort but an upper mid level all inclusive.

The property was beautiful and very safe. The rooms are beautiful. Since the property is quite large there are golf carts that take you to different areas within the resort (lobby, hotel room, restaurants, and pools). We never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. We opted for the Star Class option. Well worth it for the sole fact that this included 24 hour room service and free items from the minibar (snacks, water, soft drinks, juice, wine, champagne) which was restocked daily. Except for the cabanas, this is an all inclusive resort. We rented a cabana and it was well worth it. The cabana included a sectional sofa, TV, your choice of alcohol, water, two lounge chairs. PRIVATE POOL, and server that brought whatever drinks and food we requested. The resort has a kids pool with slides, a rain fall, among other kid friendly things. My daughter really enjoyed the kids pool. My only complaint about this resort was check in. We arrived to the resort early morning. I knew that we would have to wait for our room. We waited almost 8 hours before we received our room. We noticed that other people that we on our same fight, received their rooms about 3 hours before we did. We received our hotel bracelets upon our arrival and they had to be reactivated we when finally received our room. I think that the check in personal forgot that we were waiting for our room, I expected at least an apology.

The property is gorgeous; the staff are friendly and welcoming, the drinks are strong, the food is average. Main cons: tiny kids pool and play area and kids club is more like a day care rather than actual kids club with sports and outdoor activities.

The food was not that great. It was not tasty or spicy. The pool area is not as well developed as some of the other resorts. No tennis or pickleball courts. Otherwise facilities and service were excellent

Our reception was very nice and our butler was amazing. He gave us a wonderful tour of the grounds and was attentive to our needs. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view. The drinks and food were mediocre. Hot meals often arrived cold. Service staff was not organized or super friendly. You’ll need to know some basic Spanish or be good at charades. Skip the hydro spa. We were confused with what was going on or what the point was with dumping a cold bucket of water (ice bucket challenge?)on your head and pelting you with water spray equivalent a pins and needles pressure wash. We did get a call from the resort mgr and an email from the general mgr who appreciated our feedback. All and all our stay wasn’t terrible but it was not the 5 star experience we were expecting.

It was a great Resort, the hills will give you a bit of exercise. The reason for the low rating is that I upgraded to Star Class and spent a significant amount on my trip, but it wasn't really worth it. I would recommend the hotel, but pick the lower class stay. All of the restaurants (except the buffet) require a reservation and you may still wait an hour for food. I never saw the VIP lounge because we were told they were busy, so we waited at the front desk to check in. Then we stood in a long line waiting for a cart to take our bags and us to the room. The handler for Star class did find us in the line and take us to the room, but not much after that. There is a Star class pool but its nothing special and not worth the additional funds. In previous experiences in Mexico, Domican, etc, the upgrade was well worth it. I just didn't see the value here.

If you are going to sit and drink all day this is your place. But you are in the middle of nowhere so if you like to go out and see places your looking at at least a 40 min drive to the nearest town and the hotel will charge you $75 for that. The dinners were excellent but there is only one choice for lunch unless you want to hike back up the hill to the buffet for lunch. And even though you pay for all inclusive you find out when you get there that you have to upgrade to star class at $100 per person per day to make reservations for dinner, more breakfast and lunch options and well to be treated decent by staff. We ended up leaving early and checking in to a different hotel in Tamarindo.
