Hotels near National Railway Museum

"Disappointing - very dirty pee stained mattress. I’ve emailed the hotel twice to avoid leaving this negative feedback online - but no reply, so here goes … There was an odd smell in the small room, I pulled back the sheets to see a big yellow pee stain on the mattress on one side, along with other stains across mattress. The big pee stain had also transferred to the mattress protector, which suggests the protector was put on the bed while the stain was still damp! I told reception, no apology but they did give me another room - not quite as nice and even smaller, but cleaner. (I maybe should have asked for upgrade or compensation?) The Churchill is a good looking hotel and great location but so very disappointing that they think it’s ok to let guests sleep on filthy mattresses that should be thrown out and replaced. If I’d not checked, then I would have been sleeping on a pee stained mattress (potentially still damp), which is disgusting. I hope no one else is unfortunate to stay in the room until the mattress has been replaced (1st room next to reception). It also raises the question- are any other beds in this dirty condition?"

"Breakfast wasn't good at all. Only scrambled egg as egg option. Overcooked hard bacon, poor quality tepid sausage. "

"The Hotel was grand and spacious including bedroom, bathroom, lobby and dinning areas. All very clean and well maintained. Shower was hot and good pressure. Staff were pleasant and helpful throughout stay. Excellent location for City Centre tourism. Would have got 5 star if swimming pool was bigger - though it was very clean including changing rooms. Breakfast was a little bland especially with coffee being served in jugs, though they had sufficient buffet options and dining area was excellent so not a big issue. I would definitely stay here again. "

"Room was clean and reasonably spacious for a family room Staff were very helpful and friendly Breakfast was ok, the area around the waffles was a bit of a mess and did run out of batter (it was very busy)."

"Nice hotel. Good location. The ‘mood lighting’ meant the room was very dark including the bathroom area that was part of the main room so not great for applying makeup, contact lenses etc."
