Lovely resort right in the beach. Not too big and you can even go over to the other Riu resort down the beach and eat there too with your all-inclusive bracelet. The beach is AMAZING. Drinks are great, food is good overall. Highly recommend reserving a dinner at the Steak House- our favourite of the restaurants there. Staff were always helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

Rooms were dated, housekeeping was really good, drink service at beach was sub par or non existent. Front desk was helpful and bar staff were fun. Buffet was good but specialty restaurants ok. Property was very clean. The oddest thing were the beds. Instead of a king, there were 2 full size beds pushed together. I felt like I was falling in a hole all night. The beds were made up with 2 sheets per bed, no comforter.

We recently stayed at this resort, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The resort was very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This was actually our third time staying here, and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and service. However, we were very disappointed with the restaurant reservation system. According to the website, reservations open at 8:00 a.m. on the same day, but every time I tried to reserve right at 8:00 a.m., the system showed that everything was already fully booked. This happened several days in a row. During our previous visits, the restaurants operated on a first-come, first-served basis, which worked much better for guests. The new reservation system does not seem to function as advertised, and it was frustrating not being able to secure a reservation despite trying exactly when reservations opened. I hope the resort reviews this system or improves the process so guests can actually access the dining options that are advertised.

I’ve stayed at a RIU in Montego Bay before, so I knew paying more usually means a nicer, more “luxury” experience. That wasn’t really the case here. Palace Tropical Bay didn’t feel like an upgrade, and honestly we could’ve just stayed at Riu Negril and been just as happy, if not happier. When we went there for the White Party, it looked just as nice. The swim-up bar pool was also an issue—the filter seemed off because there was always debris floating around, which wasn’t great. The “ocean view” is pretty limited—you can see the ocean, but it’s more of a partial view than a full one. On the positive side, the entertainment staff did a great job keeping people engaged even with all the rain that week and food was pretty good. The biggest frustration was that we could not check in our first night due to bad weather costing us our connecting flight, and even though Expedia contacted the hotel, they refused to refund or accommodate that night which was really disappointing.

Room was cleaned daily. Evening shows were amazing as they reflect Jamaica. Most of the staff were courteous, but some staff who work in the buffet and restaurants (mostly females) were unfriendly and unwelcoming. We loved fitness classes taught by "Happy Feet". It would be great if you add at least one more class of Riumba per week and /or dance lessons.
