This is a great little hotel that has very kind staff and security. Shout out to Jerry who was the nicest as I came and went. I got upgraded to a suite and the king bed was extremely comfortable!! The bathroom and shower were modern and sleek and a huge upgrade from the last hotel I stayed at during my last visit. It is 2 blocks away to the Broadway Theater, which is where the show I went to was and really close to Central Park. Also easily walkable to time square and Rockefeller Center. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect rooms and guest lounge was great for morning coffee and relaxing. Very convenient to Broadway. Staff were wonderfully helpful and even gave us some drink coupons for 3 Monkeys around the corner.

Moderne Hotel was the perfect place to meet our NYC needs. We were on the go all the time and this hotel was in an excellent location with just a quick walk to everywhere we wanted to go. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I felt safe and the parking garage next door was so convenient and affordable. We will be staying there again!

Tl;dr - there are much better hotels for the price. Pros: - Clean - Convenient location - Quirky decor - Mostly friendly staff Cons: - The building is 120~ years old and it shows, despite the obvious attempts to renovate. - Parts of the wood floor in our room would bow underfoot - Shower kept alternating between hot and cold - The shower door, if you can call it one, was a single pane of immovable glass that only covered half the shower, which leads to water splashing on the floor. Brilliant design. - The elevator (the only one) is rickety - AC was barely able to keep the room below 75 degrees and sounded like it was actively breaking down - The bed was a firm mattress on some kind of slab. One of the worst we've ever slept on. When you're already paying the same premium as similar hotels for the location, you get there and they surprise you with an extra $20 per night "residence" fee, and then you have the problems we had, I just can't recommend it. Much better places near Times Square for the same price, such as EVEN Hotel.

This hotel appears small, but everything is clean and adequate. It is easily accessible to trains and buses. The staff is very courteous and helpful! I had a comfortable stay at this Moderne Hotel.

The hotel was clean, quiet, had a cute guest lounge, and had a supper friendly staff. We stay in the city from time to time when attending a show or event and would defiantly stay at the Moderne again.

Very disappointing! What was up sold on line as a junior suite was basically a single room, tiny aged and dirty bathroom, uncomfortable bed with cheap pillows. The windows were so dirty, you can barely see outside, zero facilities other than a quest lounge that even the only single amenity of coffee wasn’t even stocked.

The Moderne is a quirky little place with a great location. Not good if you’re looking for a tall hotel with a view within spitting distance of Times Square, but great if you want something clean, quiet and within walking distance of TS and Central Park. It worked great for our purposes - seeing our daughter perform a block away, then hitting the sights the next day. The night desk shift was functional, but not very informative. The gentleman working the day shift the next morning was wonderful - told us about the hotel’s great second floor lounge, with tea and coffee and comfy couches and a view out of the front window (most or all of the rooms have no view). He offered to watch our baggage for as much of the day as we wanted even though we were checking out that morning. As for the room itself: we had two double beds. They were rather low and at first were reminiscent of futon mattresses, but they ended up being very comfortable. We slept quite well. The bathroom is brightly lit and updated - the shower has a detachable handheld option, which I love. All in all, I would recommend this place. It’s not flashy from the outside, and it is small (not the rooms - the hotel), but it suited our needs nicely.

The young man at the counter when we checked in (Andy) was amazing. Really personable and friendly, upgraded our room and gave us amazing dinner recommendations. Unfortunately can't say the same for the lady who worked one of the day shift afterwards, super dry and kind of rude. But overall, Hotel room itself was great, clean and spacious with lots of room. We had an issue with the room being really cold (staff was good though and sent up a heater) but it was still freezing. Good location, quiet and close to restaurant's and local eateries. Would stay here again.

This is our second stay and is our first choice when staying in NYC. The staff is great, location is perfect, and the rooms are very clean. My only disappointment was that the mattress was a little too firm in our room during this stay for my comfort. During our previous stay, the mattress was perfect, so I will make sure to specify for our next stay.

Overall Lacking
Overall the place just seemed dark and dingy. There was nothing inherently dirty, just didn't seem up to date. The staff was great, but the stay was lacking. I was not able to adjust the thermostat in my room, the TV was old and outdated with only a few options, and the remote only worked half the time, and the bed was very firm. The window had a great view of the brick wall 3 feet away. The best part of the room was the shower. Without any natural light and the outdated carpet and wallpaper, everything just seemed gloomy.

Service was just OK.
The front desk staff was just OK. Not super friendly. She said she sent me a receipt but I never received it. I’m still confused as to whether they charged me an early check in fee. They never told me the amount or that it was being charged but the total bill is higher than expected. The room was tiny but clean and modern. They gave our checked bag to another guest, but eventually got it back.

Buen hotel, buena ubicación y a buen precio!
Estadía muy cómoda. El hotel está situado en un área céntrica de la ciudad. Las habitaciones son cómodas, la limpieza está muy bien y lo empleados son muy atentos. A unas 4 cuadras de time square. El restaurante japonés y thaï de la esquina son muy buenos. Llevamos nuestro perro de servicio y también estuvo perfecto para el. Muy recomendado.
