Cally Palace Hotel & Golf Course

Cally Palace Hotel & Golf Course

8/10 Good
"The entrance way to the hotel was stunning, the road was a fair distance with woodland on both sides and arriving at the hotel frontage gave a very regal impression of days gone by. At the reception, we were welcomed by two staff members one of whom booked us in with our reservation and the other showed us to our room and talked us through the hotel and showed us the facilities (pool, gym… etc..) the room was more than average size with more than a king-size bed, en-suite, four chairs, two bureau areas, a long unit with tea, coffee etc a wall mounted tv, a balcony that over looked the golf course, on the down side no room fridge which for a hotel of such standing is a poor show. The hotel bar is well-stocked with plenty of areas to relax, and it also has a full-size snooker table for your enjoyment. The breakfast had everything you could want to help start your day. All the staff were always happy to assist in any way needed. The hotel overall is good however it is looking a bit tired in its decoration, the carpets have seen better days. A hotel of this standing and its past history are clearly missing a trick of not using multiple Scottish tartans for different areas of carpets around the hotel and naming each room/area with the tartan used that name and giving visitors even more history into the wonders of Scotland, but overall we had a most enjoyable stay at the Cally Palace"

Fernhill Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The area is absolutely stunning with amazing views. The hotel needs a little TLC is a little antiquated needs to be brought into the 21st century only silly things like sockets that take phone cables etc, especially when you’re on business and need chargers etc: however what a lovely place to stay and I would cope lol. Staff were amazing all of them from the gent on reception who seemed to be everywhere to the lovely lady in the Bar and restaurant again she was a very busy lady with a joyful and friendly attitude. All in all a great place and most importantly I enjoyed my time there. Will most definitely visit again even if I have to drive out of my way."

The Portpatrick Hotel by Compass Hospitality

8/10 Good
"Great location with panoramic view of Portpatrick. Car parking on site which is included in the cost of your room as long as you register with reception. Very clean hotel . Dog friendly with dedicated areas of the hotel reserved for dogs and their owners. Breakfast is self service buffet. The plate warmer and the hot food warmer do not keep the plates and the cooked food warm. Coffee machine was broken so only instant coffee available at breakfast hence a score of 4 out of 5."
