"We loved this hotel. We were particularly impressed with the kindness of the staff. Sujawa, in particular, greeted us with warmth and made sure we were immediately comfortable after coming into the hotel on a very hot day. She also explained the local bus service and allowed us to check in earlier than anticipated, which made our day in Nikko so much easier and more enjoyable. The room was perfect and very clean, and the coffee machine in the main kitchen area was much appreciated. Would highly recommend this hotel. "

"This retreat in the village was tranquil and restorative. The traditional japanese room with private onsen bath was the perfect complement to arriving from Tokyo and restorative after a day of rafting and canyooning (shout out to NOAC). The half board option was a great addition. Breakfast and dinner menus were exciting, sophisticated and simoky delicious. The staff are attentive to detail, accomodating and very polite. "We really enjoyed staying here, the onsen was so relaxing and beautiful. Some of the staff were very nice and sweet, others were kind of rude. Its also very quiet and safe around the hotel so we liked that. It was hard to find a restaurant within 20 minutes walking that was open for dinner, but we met a sweet auntie who told us where to find good food. We will definitely stay here again when we come to Kinugawa"

"I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Nikko recently and honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The location alone makes it worth the trip — right on Lake Chuzenji, with the mountains and waterfalls of Nikko all around. It feels super peaceful and completely different from the city vibe of Tokyo. Rooms The rooms are huge by Japanese standards and beautifully designed. Think modern but with lots of Japanese touches — sliding doors, deep soaking tubs, and big windows that frame either the lake or the mountains. Mine had a lake view and waking up to that every morning was amazing. Food Food was excellent. Breakfast had both Japanese and Western options (the Japanese one was really special). Dinner was pricey, but the kaiseki course was worth it for the experience. If you want something lighter, there are cafés around the lake too. Onsen & Spa This is where the hotel really stands out. The onsen (hot spring) is incredible — both indoor and outdoor baths with natural hot spring water. Sitting outside in the hot bath while looking at the mountains was pure magic. Service super professional, but also warm and friendly. They remembered small details about preferences and made everything feel easy. Special thanks to Alex, Marek and Tiff.
