"The hotel itself was nice. The AC and shower were 10/10! It definitely helped after long, hot days by the pool or after excursions. The Star Class had its own pool which was nice and less crowded, and had its own 'lounge' in the main building for drinks and snacks. The pool area was ok but since it was the only one, it was always very crowded. The biggest issues were with the restaurants. There were 9 restaurants on property, but unless you made reservations the first day, you most likely weren't getting in to any of them. And while they were there, most didn't open until dinner, so for breakfast and lunch, you only had 2-3 options. The food itself was fine. There were definitely some bright spots (spring rolls at East Sushi!), most of it was just eh. It was probably best just to get pool food or bar food because at least then you know what you were getting. Housekeeping was hit and miss. We often (almost daily) had to call them for towels or soap even if the room was cleaned. The beach was also not the best. The sand was cool (black sand), but the beach was small and to get from the resort to the beach, you had to walk thru a gauntlet of VERY PUSHY nonresort vendors trying to sell you something. The Star Class beach chairs were also set up RIGHT beside them, so they also didn't leave you alone if you were sitting there. Overall, I was happy with the stay, especially since it was our first time in CR, but would probably try another resort next time."
