Staff was rude and unaccompanied. Room was dated. Toilet moved when you sat down. Lamps were rusted terribly I assume because of the salt water. Mirror in bathroom hadn’t been wiped in what looks to have been months.

Hi Nazaret , you reserved a partial ocean view , a ocean view is from the side so you can still see partly ocean :) Ocean front is straight to the ocean sorry for the misunderstanding , and we do apologize about parking we were sold out this weekend but we do have two overflow parking areas :) We do apologize about the ac we were not made aware but i will let our maintenance know as well hope you give us another try when renovations are finished :)

I called in advance yesterday afternoon since I was going to be there later in the evening, the associate I spoke with assured me that someone would be there so I could check in. I showed up and the office was closed, I reserved an oceanfront view room but after I got my keys and walked to the room and the keys didn’t work, the manager walked over and opened the door only to find it hadn’t been cleaned. I got put into a room that wasn’t oceanfront like I had reserved (wouldn’t have minded it if it hadn’t have been more expensive) in terms of the state of the room…I’ve stayed in barracks rooms that were nicer in Afghanistan, the desk in the corner was held together by tape, it smelled like dirty mike and the boys had been there for a week, and it definitely was not clean. I paid $230 for two nights and I’m not exactly happy about paying that much for staying in something that raggedy. I recommend finding somewhere to stay.

The room you reserved was a partial ocean view-not ocean front. I sincerely apologize the room was not clean and I will share this with housekeeping.

Great area with good beaches and I can't say for other hotels but I'm sure their a little bit better as far as being updated. The best description, I can come up with for this place is a dive hotel. It's got a dive bar feel in a hotel.

I don’t even know where to start! We were given room 203 upon checkin, get to our room it was 88 inside, AC showed it was on and set to 65. It was EXTREMELY hot and muggy to the point the beds were wet and there was sweat on the walls. We waited 30 mins for it to cool off, it didnt. I played with the AC, and it showed PO. Went to front desk, she called maintenance said he’ll be here in a few. 20 minutes after not hearing back, I went to the lobby, she said sorry but this room has been scheduled for maintenance. We have on room available but its just for tonight(we had booked 4 nights). She switched us to 225, and told us to come back in the morning for our new room. Went to the desk at 8am to see what room we were being moved to, front desk lady (shannon) was extremely rude and said well sucks for you cause theres no rooms youll have to find another hotel. (I have recordings of this). So now were stuck in florida, needing a room to get ready as we have a wedding to be at later that day. They made us leave by 11am, no apologies or anything. Also, when we got to our new room our toilet was clogged and we called for maintenance, no one showed up, next morning i went back to front desk about it, and maintenance still never showed up! Do not stay here!!! It is run down & staff is HORRIBLE

First was broken elevator for third floor unit. The room conditions were visibly moldy shower curtain. Sand on mattress. Weird tape left on walls. Beat up furniture.no coffee maker but coffee. Asked for one and absolutely none available. No hot water when trying to use as too many others had already used and had to wait for water to get hot again for 45 minutes. Deteriorating outside building and unsightly. Would never book or stay again. Should have paid me to stay. Horrible. Go to the lotus boutique.

The view and location were amazing. However the hotel was old and dated. Holes and cracks in wall, rust on appliances, air condition dripping, small fridge had an odor like something was rotten in it. Floors not clean, dirt and dead bugs in corners.

This property is in great need of improvement. Old and pretty much a flea bag hotel. Elevator was very unsafe and we were trapped for 30 minutes inside of it with no air conditioning and no air circulation. Smoke detector in room didn’t work. AC in room didn’t work. Pillows on bed were very old. Dirty in corners of room and the place should be redone totally. Breakfast consisted of a paper bag with a granola bar, mini muffin and mandarin orange. NEVER will stay here again.

My biggest issue at this property is the smell in the room. I’ve used the property before during bike week 2023. My room smelled the same way. It’s like wet mildew odor throughout the entire room. We always have to keep the balcony door open. The bathroom toilet is always loose & shakes form the base. The tub/ shower controls are loose. The only think that keeps me coming back is the parking lot across the street. It’s large enough for us to park our trucks & trailers during our stay. I also don’t like the fact that no housekeeping came to clean the room all week. I had to go to the front desk & get fresh towels & wash clothes every few days. Big inconvenience.

It was perfect for a quick trip including my 2 dogs. It is located directly on the dog friendly section if the beach, which was great. It's not a fancy place, but staff was great, room was clean and comfortable. Would stay afain.

Excellent location and price with free parking. Located on a great stretch of beach with easy walk of a public park. Property is undergoing renovation so soon it will "look nicer" The room did not appear very clean. The beds were probably changed, but there was something splashed over the mirror from top to bottom (ie obvious) we stayed in had a small kitchen area and dishes were not cleaned :-( Had a pool and hot tub which was nice as Daytona was pretty cold when we were there.

The Property is A cheaper property It is perfect for sandy kids and wet clothes. the pool was perfect with great views of the beach. If you have a bunch of kids and trying to vacation this is the place. The staff were courtious and prompt to any problem we had.

First, We experience what I can only describe as racism and racial profiling as 2 different staff members questioned our presence on the property after we had already received a parking pass (once from the person I received the pass from) Second, Front desk staff wasn't welcoming to "Us" (African Americans) as we watched other guest (Caucasians) actually be greeted and checked in. Our Room "wasn't ready, they would call us",... okay, but "others" were getting keys??? After observing the difference, I went to another group (Caucasians) in our party that reserved the same room at the same time but they arrived 4 hours after us, to see if they were able to check in. She'd just received her call and yet we hadn't, so she walked back in with me and allowed me to ask about our room first. so finally checked in 5 hours after several of our neighbors (who made note of the issue) had already checked in. The hot tub, was coated with a green slime. The pool, needed a clean. The Room: Great View. Period. That's The Only Positive. The Room: Hadn't been cleaned! Doubt the sheets had been changed, bed skirt covered in splatters??? (What were we waiting for?) Disgusting, food and trash still on floor, dirty sheets, shower curtain & ceiling molded, mildewed and falling in. The price was ridiculous for the condition of the space. If you stay here, take your own sheets, vinyl mattress cover, shower shoes, towels, shower curtain, Lysol and alcohol in a spray bottle(to check for bed bugs).

It's an older place that looks like it's in the process of renovation. It served it's purpose as a place to sleep when I need a place at the last minute when I had a vrbo cancel on me at the last minute. We liked the Atlantic ocean view from the property pool side was great! The pool water warm. Excellent beach front sand. If you are a surfer, great spot. Guarded and secure- life guard and plane alerts were seen when rip tides occurred. The property main building is being rennervated, and we hope that when we return next year, there would be vast improvement in cleaning the rooms, and the exterior/ interior of the building. It is located in a great area.

We have been coming to this property for 8 years now. It has progressively went downhill over the past 2 years. This spring break was atrocious tho. The front desk staff is amazing but the crackheads they have cleaning the place need lessons. We had no towels in our room upon arriving besides used ones in the bathroom and kitchen still wet. The floor was filthy along with shaved hair all over the vanity counter. Fake fingernails on the bathroom floor and Marijuana roaches on the balcony. Dirty dishes in the sink and a dead roach in the back of the bible left in the drawer. The pool has been redone and they are under new management probably trying to fix all the wrongs but we wont be back. I did let front desk know and he brought me plenty of cleaning supplies along with so many apologies. I understand he does not clean the rooms. He was great. But renovations have nothing to do with cleanliness. I would not ever recommend the Makai to anyone's else.

Oh where to start… first pulling up we thought this is not our hotel, very old, run down, just looks like it lacking alot of maintenance and tlc. Checking in was great, staff super friendly and no issues. Then we experienced our room… no air conditioning for day 1 had to move us to another room for our 2nd night, there was mold inside the ac unit, it smelled clean but everything was dingy or stained, rusted lamps on the bottom, side chairs stained, bathroom… so many things, just gross! Very large dead bug as we entered also! Lock on door to the patio was not only broke but you could see outside from the hole. It was directly on the beach but parking is allowed in front of hotel so you have everyone coming up from the beach to jump in the pool. Pool chairs were nice but lacking many. Pool was clean. Parking wasn’t bad. Lots of mischief at nite, and the smell of weed is constant everywhere all day/night. Which wasn’t bad compared to a lot of things lol Price was good, would I stay again NO!!!! It felt unsafe and unsanitary overall. Not enough good to out weigh the endless amounts of bad, I’m not sure how they even pass inspection, yes that bad!!!

Property has been declining for years. Old owners have sold it. New owners seem to want to make changes. The hot breakfast isn’t there as room being renovated. Grab n go was offered. Didn’t know til check in for that. Staffing is big issue. Yes it was beek week. But rooms not ready til after 6 pm is a bit crazy. Parking for trailer is nice but was told had to stay at hotel for that. The paper showed non hotel guess could pay to park for $10 more. So can stay at nicer hotels and still have space to park. House keeping was nice and tried to accommodate but just not enough of them to cover whole hotel.

The location was perfect for Daytona bike week. The room rates were increased because of it being bike week which is normal with function like this. But the room was only cleaned on the next day after we arrived, and never cleaned for the rest of the week. The rooms were ok, just could use some updates everything was very aged.

To be fair, I had an idea that the hotel was not a new building. The concrete structure is crubling from decades of salty air/water. This building has had its run, it needs tore down. When something terrible happens the government that allows this facility to remain open should be held accountable in a court of law.

thank you Ms. Caroline for your review. 4PM is standard check in time. We can not put bath mats in the tubs, per Health Dept., because someone might trip on them. We are renovating the breakfast area so although one does not pay for the complimentary breakfast, we do provide Grab-n-Go bags while we are upgrading. Room was not ready for me. Stove burner was on, beds were without any linen. Linen was liked on the floor. Food in the fridge. Slide door to balcony was wide open. Their excuse was understaff issues.

So sorry Greg you did not enjoy your stay. The hotel is under new owners and they are diligently working to renovate the property but it does take time with a property this size. Hope you will come back after the renovations are done. Have yourself a great day!
