"I love this hotel , it’s family owned and the owners are very nice people . The continental breakfast was great with variety of food to choose from . The rooms were clean, the AC and fridge worked well and there was plenty of hot water for shower . Each room had its own table in front with 2 chairs to enjoy the evenings on the island . The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided. The hotel provides shuttle service from the airport when requested. We were greeted with leis made from local flowers . It was such a nice welcoming gesture . During the stay , the owners often gave us fresh fruits : mango , watermelon, maracuja and soft drinks free of charge . It is an excellent hotel . "

"The staff was incredibly welcoming. The location is excellent. The rooms were spacious. I was excited to secure a reservation at Matariki and it proved to be even better than I imagined. If we manage to return to the island we will certainly stay here again."

"I would recommend this place,centrally located to everything. The air conditioner in the bedroom was a bonus as it got quite warm in there.also balcony off the bedroom was nice. Also picks you up and drops you off at the airport "

"Our room was just as described. The bed was comfortable, a little kitchenette to make coffee in the morning and a porch to enjoy a drink with an ocean view. The staff is brilliant! We even got a complimentary drive to the airport."

He personally greeted us, which already set the tone for the entire stay. "Tupa Hotel is primitive compared to a budget hotel in the US. No AC in any of the rooms & humidity is about 75-80% every day with temperatures only fluctuating a couple degrees per day & night. March 2026 78 during day, 75-76 at night. Only the receptionist speaks English. Breakfast is deli meats, cheeses, bread, coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit. The staff is incredibly friendly & do their best to accommodate your stay. Chickens, horses, dogs roam loose. Groups of guests can be extremely rude, self-righteous, and pretentious. This is a good choice to sleep & shower but luxury it is not. If you’re here to experience the island, stay at Tupa. If you’re here for a world class experience, pay a lot more to stay somewhere else."

"It is the tropics, so very warm! We had a hard time sleeping because the fans were insufficient in cooling down the bungalow. It would have been nice to have a window AC unit and blackout curtains to block the afternoon sun. However, the views are amazing and the breakfast was good. The location is convenient and they provide transportation from the airport to the bungalows. The staff was very helpful with suggestions for a guide, which was needed to enter the sites and helped us purchase the park tickets. "
