"The staff was very helpful and friendly. The property is decently maintained. The view of the water and beach is amazing! The room we had was very small for 4 people however we were right by a common room with a TV, comfortable chairs, and vending machines where we could go when our room felt too small. The pool was decently clean although with people coming and going from the beach there was a lot of sand. The hot tub jets didn't work well but the bathroom was clean. We didnt have a proper closet area but we did have a place to hang our clothes. Everything worked in the room although there was a lack of outlets for charging of devices. There wasn't a telephone in the room so we had to call down for assistance on our cell but that was fine. We were a bit concerned about the security since the doors to go in and out doors didn't have locks on them so anyone could go in and out. We would definitely stay here again though. It was a beautiful spot in a good location."
"Location was nice. Convenient across from pier and playground. Granddaughters enjoyed the pool. Good hot breakfast. The building seemed cheaply built. Not very sound proof for a newer building. Could hear people easily walking above us so didn’t get much sleep. Trim work didn’t seem to be finished. Nor the grout in the bathroom floor."
"Gross dumpy dirty old hotel and horrible (really HORRIBLE) hotel staff, incredibly rude and not accommodating for out of town wedding guests who needed to check in early to change clothes and prepare for the wedding. They suggested we change in restrooms! Many rooms were available to check in at 1:00, but the receptionist insisted we pay $20 extra to check in early. Total rip off! What a crummy way for the wedding party to be treated.
The online rate for this hotel was also $100 cheaper per night than the not so “special rate” offered for the block of rooms held for the wedding attendees. Who would pay $250 night for this dump of a hotel!?! As a reminder, this is East Tawas, not Traverse City!
This hotel owner must be crazy and thinks pretty highly of this property. But they’re punching well above their weight class. This is a podunk hole in the wall dump that isn’t nearly as nice as a two star holiday inn. They just happen to be on a beach. But don’t kid yourself, this is not a beach “resort”, this is more like a hotel 8 on a beach. Lipstick on a pig doesn’t make the pig any less of a pig.
On a positive note, the bar staff was great and they were clearly trying so hard to make up for the rest of the horrible experience! The bar staff should be running the entire hotel. At least they understand what it means to be in the SERVICE industry.
Absolutely WILL NOT stay here again and would give this place negative 10 stars if possible. An old DUMP with miserable staff."
"Property was welcoming to dogs but there wasn’t a way to get pre-authorization - although they requested it- even though I didn’t get that information until I checked in.
There were no blankets! There was a light cover and a sheet on the bed. No blankets in the closet just one extra pillow. Also no Kleenex.
Please was clean. Lovely view and nice beach frontage. Unfortunately the property owner decided to blow the leaves from the property. Then crews came to work on the property -backhoe, dump truck- loud. When I took the dog for a walk the crew was smoking pot. This was supposed to be a time away for me in the off quiet off season to get some work done. The dog got so worked up because he could hear stuff that we had to leave. Also, the management knew a crew would be there doing work and they still asked if I wanted to extend my stay! I would have been so mad if I said yes and paid, and then had to listen to and watch the work being done! I am sure they are getting ready for the busy season but it was disappointing."
"View is incredible from cabin 14 (the whole property, really). Had everything we could need. The beach is very nice. Our cabin was clean and clutter free. The property has a nice vibe. I/we would absolutely stay there again."
