Clean, comfortable, great location

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is in a quiet street, but only a few minutes’ drive from the national park entrances. Rooms are simple, but comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Beds and pillows were very comfortable, better than many accommodations I’ve stayed in. The lodging is under the same ownership as a nearby restaurant, where we had tasty breakfast and dinner, and friendly service.

The property was super cute & clean with common outdoor spaces with hammocks and tables to sit, relax and have wine & play cards etc… The owners are super nice & left home made cookies for us. They own a restaurant near by & the food is delicious. It’s a short drive to Plitvice Lakes NP so great location if you want to visit the park.

Lovely rustic house close to Plitvice! Hosts were very gracious, even had a fire going in the fireplace to greet us! The restaurant owned by the host is just a short walk or drive away and is excellent food and an excellent value. We recommend House Rustico!

Worst visiting, calm and fabulous

Very nice location close Plitvice Lakes, there are free bicycles for renting, beautiful countryside, very calm and peaceful place. The restaurant is excellent with very good local cuisine and there is an excellent service from hotel keeper.

The property was nearby the highway about 15 minutes from the park entrance. The related restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast. The room was simple but spacious and clean and had everything we needed! Great choice and great price.

House Rustico is a beautiful property. We absolutely loved our stay there. We were greeted warmly and treated like family throughout our stay. We borrowed their bikes and enjoyed riding through the gorgeous villages nearby. The accommodations were clean and well kept. It is a wonderful spot for families. We were sad to leave. Don’t forget to try the mushroom soup at Vila Velebita!

Good value for money stayover location near the beautiful Plitvice lakes in Central Croatia. Not really en route to anything else than that though. We spent 2 nights and the room was basic but comfortable. The direct area around the apartment doesn't have that many options, so either take a drive to some other settlement, or consider the bistro associated to the facility, which is very decent.

Fantastic family friendly home!

A fabulous small house with everything you could want and more than you would expect. Family owned & operated, and they were all very kind, informative, and friendly. Check in & out was at a nearby Bistro (amazing food and service) was quick and simple. They have multiple tables and chairs to hand out at outside the home, and relaxing hammocks. 10/10 would recommend and would return!

Absolutely wonderful!!

Super clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable, room spacious and A/C worked perfectly when needed, otherwise the windows were open for fresh air. Outside there is a sitting area with chairs, hammocks, shaded by tall trees, perfect for working on a laptop or reading — or just listening and enjoying outside. There are areas to walk your dog off property as well. The housekeeping staff were amazing — so nice, friendly and they keep the place impeccable. The owner’s mother was a total sweetheart! For food, their restaurant is just quick walk away and has a huge menu, and has options for non-meat eaters, both vegan and vegetarian (grilled veggies —mushrooms…..wow!). Don’t feel like walking? They have bikes you can ride. The National Park is a short drive away (suggest you make reservations). Our stay at House Rustico was the best stay of our whole time in Croatia.

Fantastic place to stay when visiting the lakes

My wife and I were really impressed with House Rustico. The room and building was spotlessly clean and the room was very pleasant and comfortable. We had everything we needed in the room and there was some nice thoughtful touches like fresh fruit and complimentary sweets. Nice bathroom and shower and very comfortable bed. We met the owner at the Vila Velebita, which is his restaurant just around the corner from the accommodation. For reference the restaurant is on the main road, as you come from the north (having past Plitvice Lakes), it is on the right hand side just before the sharp turning you take to get to House Rustico. You stop at the restaurant to check in and you are given a complimentary drink, which includes anything from the drinks menu including alcoholic drinks. After enjoying our drink, we were given the keys and head around the corner (2 minute drive) to the room. At the room we are met by the owners mum who is very friendly. She showed us the room and put the heating on for us (slightly unseasonal weather for the time of year - mid May). As we were only there for one night we didn’t get a lot of time at the property but they had free bicycles for guest use and a nice outdoor area for sitting. Finally we went back to Vila Velebita for dinner and both the food and the staff were superb. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal I would highly recommend eating here during your stay. Just to note, the drive to Plitvice lakes is approx. 20 mins.

We had a great stay at House Rustico. It is about a 15-20 mins drive away to Plitvice national park, and it is located in a nice little town near a forest. The room is big, clean and is well equipped. Vila Velebita is at the other side of the small town, and is the place where you have to collect the keys to your rooms. Vila Velebita is also a great option for dinner and breakfast, it offers traditional cuisine and has a nice atmosphere with traditional Croatian music. When we stayed in house Rustico there was a bear in the surrounding forest that made quite some noise during the night. It was also an interesting experience to walk back from Vila Velebita in the dark to house Rustico while we saw garbage containers overturned and a (fresh) drool trail of the bear. This is of course not the hotel's fault, but keep in mind that the surroundings contain wild life. We stayed in the hotel during September in which bears enter hyperphagia (feeding frenzy) so that explains the bear's behavior.

Lovely & clean house but we were treated horribly by the owner. Due to his rude attitude & behaviour, the stay felt uncomfortable from the first day of arrival. When booking we also payed extra for the Mountain View house but there was no Mountain View.
