My room in the roof appeared cramped at first but was adequate for a solo traveller. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. Room was well serviced every day.

This was my first stay at this hotel. My room was very clean and bright. The room was quite warm when I went in so I opened the window, I wanted to keep it open all night but couldn’t due to the frame constantly rattling, so I didn’t sleep particularly well. The on-site leisure facilities were nice.

Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, except for the barman on Friday night who was rude and verbally aggressive making it clear we were wasting his valuable time. The bedroom/bathroom was clean and spacious.

we were going to a concert at the plymouth pavilions and they are next door, so convenient, rooms were clean warm and comfortable, staff helpful and breakfast very fresh and quickly prepared, all in all a nice stay

The staff are very welcoming and polite. The reception area bar and leisure facilities are lovely however once you go beyond the ground floor the hotel is in a poor state. Carpet on the stairs are old and worn. The floor boards throughout the hotel creeks we could hear the person above us all night. Our bedroom carpet was old with ground in dirt so in places was black. The uneven floor boards meant that my bed leant to one side.

The bedroom was clean and tidy, however plug sockets did not work in the room so couldn't use the kettle, charge our mobile phones or use hairdryer! The shower was awful and hardly any water coming out of it due to very poor water pressure. The room was far too hot which meant we had to sleep with the window open which then meant all we heard was people in the local bar shouting all through the night, I would t stay here again!

I upgraded my single room to a double and was very happy with the space. The hotel is obviously in need of some refurbishment - perhaps it should be called the Old Continental rather than the New Continental! The food in Steve's brasserie was well cooked and the breakfast more than adequate. As I've already said, all the staff were professional and very friendly.

Comfortable stay.
It was a really comfortable stay - the room was clean and very warm. I was able to check in early which was good news. The leisure facilities were good and I used the pool and steam room and both were at good temperatures. I was a little unsure at first due to its 'dated' nature however I would definately stay there again!

A bit too much chlorine in the pool but it was nice to have access to a proper toddler pool for our 1.5 year old. Breakfast was better than expected too. A bit of an old hotel but clean.

Very old and dated. Not clean. Massive wet patch on floor next to bed which we didn’t realized until took shoes off. Toilet seat hanging off. Felt dirty. Wouldn’t stay again.

Lovely short break
One night stay in a twin room with my sister, staff were friendly room was comfortable, restaurant was fully booked but the bar snacks were lovely breakfast was delicious and the leisure club was great!

Lovely stay, Great value.
We were in Plymouth for a show at The Pavilions but decided to make a weekend of it. Glad we did, the hotel and its people were absolutely lovely, clean & comfy room, great breakfast and good food in both the bistro and bar. Unlike other older hotels we’ve stayed in, the New Continental was nicely decorated throughout, felt fresh & airy and not at all tired. We’ll happily return for another West Country break.

Solo business trip 3 nights
Booked a standard double room but was “upgraded” to a family room - with 4 beds! One of which was a pull out sofa bed, definitely didn’t need that, only me in the room. Breakfast thought was excellent. Cooked to order, delicious and hot!
