Beautiful hidden gem, a must for anyone looking for somewhere around the Plymouth and surrounding area, or for a golfing break. Staff very friendly and accommodating, chef and food incredible. Can't recommend enough.

We found it difficult to find the place but on arriving we were welcomed. There was a little confusion about the rooms that we ordered but we soon settled. The rooms were clean and well furnished but I was a little concerned about the 'Not drinking water' by the tap. The Wifi did not work and although the web site suggested that we would have a free breakfast, there was none. The costs were comparatively high and the lack of breakfast should have meant we received some compensation, The confusion about the bill continued and there was some disagreement but I am confident that we have paid. It is unlikely that I will stay there again and I will not recommend the place to friends and colleagues,

House needs some TLC. Freezing cold bathroom
Staff seemed totally disorganized - perhaps new staff. Room was clean enough but lacked any personal touches - no pictures on bare walls etc. Comfortable bed but hard pillows. Freezing cold bathroom with heated towel rail (had to hunt to turn it on) which made no difference, Drafty bathroom windows with black mold on frames. Cold dining room for breakfast

Lovely staff and location
The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The menu is more basic than is shown on the website, but that suited us, and they responded to special requests very well. Really peaceful location with great views from the rooms that overlook the golf course and the countryside.

Staff was friendly, price was right. Breakfast was excellent and the view from the dining room over the golf course was excellent. No wifi in the cottages. No place in rooms to store clothing or gear, no surfaces to stack it on.

Some rooms filthy, carpets dangerous, smelt damp, menu on website not available. Staff very good, helpful but place needs update and rooms refurbished. Good breakfast. Beautiful setting

Peace and quiet near the city
We were pleased to return to Welbeck Manor - it's a quiet retreat from the city and convenient for Dartmoor. This is not the place fro those who prefer the uniform anonymity for international chain hotels, but we enjoy the modest country house character of the place.

Stayed here whilst attending a friends child’s christening .Hotel rather tired,Room we stayed in had a new bed frame, sadly the mattress was smaller than the frame which meant you could catch yourself on the frame getting in or out of bed . Staff were really excellent, food was good if unimaginative. Hotel is situated in a really beautiful spot, wonderful views, hotel does have atmosphere which a lot of chain hotels do not.

This is a lovely peaceful place to stay, in walking distance to Dartmoor Zoo. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful and the Manor house has lovely views.

Lovely Country retreat
Beautiful Countryside surrounding a Manor House designed by IK Brunel himself. Full of character and very friendly and helpful staff. Wifi very weak in some rooms.

The room was pleasant, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very good; whilst the staff were cheerful and happy to help. The hotel is in a quiet and pretty countryside location but with good car access to the A38 and Plymouth

try and get there in daylight as the lanes are narrow and dark. Lovely views from room.Lovely old building. Staff - helpful and cheerful. In our room the carpet was a bit thread bare in places but the room was big and clean. The bed was soft but comfortable. The meal we had was reasonably priced and tasty.The drinks we had were a bit more expensive than the local pub - to be expected. Breakfast was included which was good and filling.

The staff could not do enough. Food is cooked as requested and is better than chain outlets. Could do with a bit of a paint here and there but what do you expect from a old period building. Breakfast could move to 7.00 am rather than 8.0 so to attract more business clients. Data reference WiFI needs updating and a bit more power as unable to get on line in my room.Well worth stay here just for the staff.

It's a nice quiet little corner of the world, where I am welcomed when I stay. A relaxed and informal approach, where you can unwind in reasonable comfort. The old building is on the edge of a golf course, so a walk around the perimeter before dinner, always sharpens the appetite well.

Even allowing for the hotel undergoing renovations it is categorically unacceptable to have unclean and damp rooms! Hideous, left after 1 night (only stayed that long as too late to go anywhere else!!)

The room was very disappointing, the bathroom had mould around the bath and flaking paint on the walls. The window in our room was broken and had kitchen roll stuffed in the gap to block it, the tape around it showed it had not been a recent issue. The top of the window again was covered in mould. The towels in the bathroom were fraying and a dingy white overwashed colour. A lot of old cobwebs in the room behind chairs etc that were covered in dust. The coffee table was also damaged. Did not complain at the time as needed it for the second night. Breakfast did not start until 8am which was of no use to us on the Saturday. Thankfully we were only using the hotel as somewhere to sleep after a long day. The staff were pleasant enough and welcoming just think they need to review the rooms hygiene, a lot of quick fixes would have made all the difference.
