"This was our first time in Bali and Ubud, and Alaya was a great base for exploring. The location is very central, with lots of restaurants, cafés, shops and spas within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is clean, modern and set in beautiful, lush surroundings. It also isn’t a huge resort, which we liked, as it was quick and easy to get back to the room or head out again. The air conditioning in our room was strong and worked really well. The staff were consistently friendly, and the traffic manager at the front was particularly helpful with crossing the busy road and helping taxis get in and out. There were a few things that stopped it feeling truly five-star for us. Check-in was quite lengthy after a long day of travelling, and there was some early-morning noise from sweeping outside the room and the shower/plumbing. Housekeeping also came at around 8am on our first morning. We hadn’t put the bamboo privacy sign out, which was our oversight, but having only checked in the night before, a slightly later visit would have been appreciated. Breakfast was included and was okay, but portions were small and some basics, such as sugar for tea and coffee, were missing. There are lots of excellent cafés nearby, which we preferred. The gym is very small and limited, so we chose to train elsewhere in Ubud, which was easy to do. We didn’t use the pool or spa, so can’t comment on those. Overall, a beautiful, well-located hotel with lovely staff, but not quite five-star by Weste"

"Our three night stay at Komaneka was nothing short of spectacular. Not only is it set in the most beautiful location, the staff go absolutely above & beyond for you. We just wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing stay where you feel like you are nice & secluded with beautiful green surroundings but also only a short walk to the heart of Ubud. Thank you Komaneka Team, we hope we can visit again next year!"

"I spent a week here and had a wonderful stay. The staff were exceptional—always pleasant, attentive, and genuinely willing to go above and beyond to make everything comfortable. The outdoor area is beautiful, with a great pool and a very cozy, relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and have lovely balconies. Housekeeping was excellent, with cleaning offered twice a day. The restaurant was also a highlight, with very good food and creative cocktails. The location is excellent and makes it easy to explore Ubud. Wonderful experience at the spa with an exceptional flower bath. I would highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again."

"The highlight of our stay was the incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Almost everyone we interacted with went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after. Small touches such as remembering our breakfast orders, bringing snacks with drinks ordered from the bar, helping us find the right driver, and explaining the local area and surroundings really made a difference. There are a few areas where the property could improve, particularly with housekeeping and room comfort. The carpets could be vacuumed more regularly, and the wash basin could benefit from a more thorough clean, as there were some signs of mould that became noticeable on closer inspection. The air conditioning could also be stronger or cool the room faster, especially for guests returning from the heat outside. Better water pressure in the shower would also improve the overall experience. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and really enjoyed the location. The staff were knowledgeable, welcoming and able to communicate well in English, which made everything much easier throughout our stay. With a few improvements to cleanliness and room amenities, the experience could be even better."

"I was travelling solo. Check-in in was efficient. The first room I was allocated was at near the spa at the other end of the hotels buildings. I didn’t like the location & felt uncomfortable. I returned to reception and asked to move room nearer reception. He said I could maybe have a room after 6pm. He said the rooms near maybe noisy very late as there was a music venue near by. (google translate helped too). Later I can back and was put into another room. It was much better and I was right near the first pool with a balcony overlooking that and the rice field. Nice big shower room which also had a bath & sink in the main area. Massive 4 poster bed very comfortable. Fridge / tea coffee kettle. No safe The wooden furniture is older and could do with upgrading. I could hear the music from that bar very late last midnight however I can sleep so it was ok. Hotel is in a good location on main street in Ubud. I felt safe walking around in the evening. The Art market and Monkey forest is walkable. Plenty of restaurants and bars around. I did have breakfast one day but did not enjoy it. Coffee was cold & breakfast was bland. I had the fruit platter too which was ok. Maybe it was just my preference. The weather was a little cloudy so didn’t go in the lovely pools. I would recommend this hotel, however remember it’s an older property and could do with some refreshing. The staff were extremely polite and kind."
