"Rooms clean, staff friendly, good service and always with a smile. Never seems crowded and always sunbeds etc available. Not much for kids to do although we don’t have kids I would say this is more of an adults destination in general. We stayed after doing safari in Kenya and paid less than those booking a package and then doing day safaris to mainland. So booking separately works out better all round. Beach is tidal and a walk on the reef with a local is well worth it discuss a price or give $10-$20 and I guarantee you will see more than walking alone"

It is not a modern, polished resort-style property, and that is really part of its appeal. The charm is in the old-world Zanzibar feel: the carved timber, arched balconies, tiled details, sea views, inner courtyard and slightly labyrinthine layout of rooms, staircases and quiet corners. The property has a real sense of place. You feel the history of Stone Town around you, while still being close to the waterfront, Forodhani Gardens, the ferry area and the main sights. The courtyard pool area is especially lovely — almost hidden away from the busy seafront — and gives the hotel a calm, intimate feel.
