"Love this place and always stay here.
Central to everything Portsmouth has to offer. Park your car and enjoy all the shopping and food and history and beauty."
"Super clean and comfortable room. A little tight by US standards, but more than compensated by quality and comfort of bedding and linens. Bathroom was immaculate and featured a lovely heated floor. The staff was authentically attentive and friendly. The onsite restaurant, Nichinan, had superb cocktails; you’ll need to peruse other reviews for clues about the food. The location is excellent- just a few steps away from the super-cute, bustling and varied commercial and entertainment options of downtown Portsmouth. Cheap public parking garages are just a few blocks away, but we recommend the valet parking service, which is worth the premium to avoid trundling suitcases through the busy downtown sidewalks. We will definitely choose the Thaxter again the next time we visit. "
