LUX* Grand Gaube
10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful 5-night stay and found it to be the perfect amount of time on an all-inclusive board.
The food was a real highlight- there were plenty of great vegetarian options at the buffet as well as across the à la carte restaurants, which made dining varied and enjoyable throughout our stay.
We traveled with our 3.5-year-old and had a fantastic time as a family. Our toddler loved the swimming pools and the beach, and we also enjoyed taking the pedalo out a few times. The resort is very family-friendly, with a kids club and lots of activities to keep children entertained. For older kids and teenagers, there are also great options like tennis, table tennis, paddle, and a pool table.
The staff truly made the experience special. they were warm, welcoming, and always attentive.
The rooms were comfortable and perfectly fine for our stay, though they could benefit from a bit of updating. That said, everything was clean and functional.
A fun bonus was the ice cream available from 1-5pm, which is a great treat if you’re on the all-inclusive package!
Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing stay and would definitely recommend it, especially for families."

LUX Belle Mare

"Just a wonderful resort. Our second trip here and it’s the best we’ve been to in Mauritius."

Le Meridien Ile Maurice
6/10 Okay
"The cleaning staff were amazing and friendly and the room was well maintained. There were not enough loungers at the pool, which meant you had to get to the pool by 9:00am to get a place. Bar service was slow at all the bars. The resort is very busy and great if you like the constant traffic and noise. The service is much better and faster if you have an all inclusive package but is very costly compared to other resorts. It doesn’t have the best beach and is difficult to snorkel. I would recommend you research resorts in depth before booking. This resort was just not a good fit for the purpose of our travel but it’s beautiful. We were asked if we were there for a special occasion ahead of time, and we told them we were there for our honeymoon, but we’re not sure why we were asked as nothing was done different from other guests."

SALT of Palmar, an adult-only boutique Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Luxury with a Heart
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at SALT of Palmar. Everything, from the food to the accommodation was truly five-star, and the level of service consistently exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were exceptional and genuinely went above and beyond to ensure every guest had the best possible experience.
One of the highlights of our trip was the privilege of visiting a local school for students with disabilities, supported by the hotel. The school caters to children as young as five through to young adults, and the work being done there is genuinely inspiring. The hotel’s support goes far beyond simple donations—they have helped furnish spaces such as a music room and contribute to practical life skills training, including making beds, setting cutlery, laundry, and more. Their fitness coach also visits regularly to support sporting activities.
What stood out most was how modest the hotel is about these efforts—you wouldn’t know about this incredible work unless you spoke to the manager. It’s definitely worth asking about if you visit.
There was absolutely no pressure to contribute, but like many schools, they are always in need of resources and equipment. If you are planning a stay, it may be worthwhile bringing along items such as stationery, toys, or other useful supplies. Monetary contributions are also welcomed, but entirely optional.
Overall, this was an unforgettable experience,"

Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Loved my stay here! We were in Mauritius for a week and stayed at 3 different hotels on the East, west, and southern coasts. Grand Baie Veranda was my favorite. The hotel is simply so beautiful from the moment you get into the parking lot. Very clean and the staff are amazing. I will never forget one of the staff members taking the time to clean my wound when I stubbed my big toe walking to dinner. That was so nice. The food is also great and I loved the gift shop. Found reasonably-priced souvenirs to take home with me. The room was great, my only qualm with it is that there are too many light switches. Otherwise, very spacious and well-decorated. Loved waking up to the sound of birds serenading us on the balcony each morning. The hotel and the surrounding area are also pretty lively. Many dining options within walking distance."

InterContinental Mauritius Resort Balaclava Fort by IHG
6/10 Okay
"The hotel was good and had great amenities, especially good wateraports. However I would class it as a 4 star rather than a 5 star. The check in was poor. Having travelled 13 hours and through the night, I did not expect there to be be a delay in checking in....surely they could have found another room rather than keep us waiting. The room cleaning was inconsistent sometimes good, sometimes not so good. The gym was basic but the equipment was new. The gym bin was not emptied and the water dispensers were not filled up on a regular basis. "
