As a business user the Tickled Trout Hotel adequately provides for all my requirements. Location, parking, excellent friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms and a consistently good restaurant. I will be visiting again very soon.

The property location was fine for my needs. The restaurant and bar area was very nice, but the hotel in certain areas is a bit tired and worn. Overall it was a decent enough hotel for the price that I paid. Excellent staff that were very helpful particularly in the restaurant/bar.

I stayed at the Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel and unfortunately found the room in a poor state—thick dust under the bed, cobwebs, exposed wiring in the corner, and a mouse that ran across the floor and vanished beneath peeling carpet. That said, the woman on reception was fantastic—she was completely understanding, didn’t question my concerns, and immediately issued a full refund, along with free breakfast and parking. No fuss, no pushback—she handled it professionally and with empathy. The hotel clearly has major maintenance and cleanliness issues to fix, but I can’t fault the staff on duty for how they handled it.

A Basic hotel with lots of space in the room. The hotel and attached restaurant is a dog friendly place which was helpful., I wish Hotels.com would say that the extra fee the dog would be 15 quid. It would be nice to know this upfront. It would be nice to know up front that the parking fee would be 5 quid in addition. By the time we checked in it was too late (dark outside) to consider anything else. The attached restaurant offered a pretty hefty price for what was a very basic - almost sub-par burger.

This was quite a nice hotel although a little dated but was just what we needed to get our head down at night. The rooms were very warm which made it a little uncomfortable through the night. The lighting in the room was quite dim also in the bathroom. Drinks at the hotel bar were a little on the expensive side. We only had breakfast which was nice with plenty of options. The views in the garden area at the back was lovely and the staff were very pleasant.

Breakfast a tad expensive. Be careful not to end up in a police compound as sat nav postcode got confused. It's a big roundabout with lots of exits off before hotel which is behind a petrol station. Staff lovely. Room beautiful very comfortable chairs one a recliner. Big very big. But slept very well. Would recommend value for money

Stay away from this hotel. It is filthy. We stepped in the room and walked back out. I have never been somewhere so dirty. Another family was sat in reception having also walked out due to the cleanliness. Please stay away.
