"At first it was alright, not super clean but at first glance wasn't to bad but then I went to go swimming in their pool and it was dirty so dirty I wouldn't go swimming! I even tried skimming it but decided it wasnt worth it! Then they have the worst case of Nats I have ever seen it was gross!! Then I noticed all the in and out traffic not just a busy hotel kind of busy but a pay by the hour kind of busy! Then the final straw was I was on the 3rd floor and their elevator quit working so I had to carry all my luggage down 3 flights of stairs never once did the guy working there offer to help!! Never again would I stay there"

"This was my first stay in Houston. I was visiting from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The stay was outstanding! The staff from the front desk, to housekeeping, to my restaurant server, to the staff at the bar who took my order after the restaurant closed offered exceptional service, especially Akeem (not sure of the spelling). The view of my room was amazing, and the location of the hotel was in walking distance from local eateries. It is a very nice and well maintained Marriott property in downtown Houston. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Laurel Hotel!"

"Staff was great. Nice, very friendly and helpful. The room was the size of a cruise cabin. It felt so small. The view from the inside out was awful. There was just another brick wall to look at. The room had no safe, no microwave or refrigerator. There was no ice machine around. The closet and bathroom were very very small. It felt like a cruise cabin bathroom. There was barely enough room to turn around. The bed was very hard but the pillows were great. Our bed was not made when we returned later on. We stayed two days and couldn’t wait to leave. Oh and the parking is valet at $45.00 a night. We asked to self park but they said it would cost more. Plus we had to pay an additional $100.00 deposit after the room had already been paid for. They said it would be refunded after checkout. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It looks good coming in and online but in reality it is definitely a rip off. Do not waste your time or your money. This trip that was supposed to be a mini vacation turned out vial because of this hotel experience."
