Great place, very clean, close to town. Great for an airport-connection before exploring the island. Fantastic breakfast. Shared bathroom might be an issue for some.
Comfortable & convenient stay in Avarua, Raratonga
Our one-night stay was very comfortable. Our downstairs room was spacious and we had exclusive use of the bathroom. The communal lounge area was also very comfortable. Thibault met us at the airport and was very helpful with information and checking in. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent. We had a very nice lunch at the Lazy Trout restaurant attached to the hotel. The hotel is located less than10 minutes walk from the bus stop at Cook's Corner and other areas, such as the markets and Trader Jack's were also within walking distance. We were also transferred back to the airport next day.
Fantastic quiet accommodation in business district of Avarua. The manager is very good and the chef is amazing! Clean and today premises with great amenities. Will definitely stay again. Highly recommended.
I moved to this hotel after being dissatisfied with an alternative accommodation I had on the island through AirBnb. This place was available at last minute notice and quiet. It has a nice pool with outside/indoor eating area but rarely busy. This place is a bit further from the road but doable if you have a car. My room was nice and clean. Downside: there were ants in my room. They got into my luggage. I didn't have food in it. I had to clean out my luggage a few times during my stay. The breakfast food was good. I had the fruit platter and eggs with toast which was included in my hotel stay. There seems to be a lot of workers around. The wifi code only works if you are in their lobby but it quickly expired as there was only 250mb per day. Cook Islands is really expensive for wifi and cell service. None of the accommodations or places you go to offer complimentary wifi.
This was my second stay here. As soon as I realized I was returning I booked my room. The service was amazing as was the food. Bed was comfortable and clean. Next time I’m in Raro I’ll be back
We chose the Wellesley Hotel to overnight on our arrival at Rarotonga due to our very late arrival at 1.30am and its close proximity to the airport. Chibault greeted us at the airport and could not have been nicer or more helpful. This same man drove half way around the island to our new hotel a few days later to deliver us something we had left in roon. That's service! We had an excellent breakfast in a pleasant setting overlooking the large swimming pool and garden.
Our room was very modern, comfortable and well appointed although no airconditioning. That said, we were not too hot and there were numerous windows on three sides and good breeze. The only real negative was the noise - not the fault of the hotel but Rarotonga is overrun with free ranging dogs and roosters and boy do they make a racket.
But other than that, the Wellesley suited our short stay needs very well. Good value.
Beautifully dressed hotel. Would call it a bed and breakfast rather than hotel. More staff than guests. Would recommend for business persons on overnight stays rather than couples/family's. Noisy due to cockerels and music from adjoining properties. Bedroom fan was neither use nor ornament. One window had no curtain so very light early morning. We shared a bathroom which we knew before hand, but didn't realize how uncomfortable this would be. Inconvenient moving toiletries twice a day. Felt more like sharing a house with the staff than being in a hotel. Excellent food, but inconvenient food opening times for us. Quite an unusual set up in general, but would recommend for business travellers for the odd night due to inclusive breakfast, airport transfers and location. The staff want to please, but only if it's convenient which again seems a little strange!
Very quiet position. Room and shared bathroom well appointed and extremely clean. Manager extremely helpful. Beautiful large swimming pool to cool down in. Cafe closed for Christmas so can't comment on that.
