"This was the first time going to Punta Cana and staying at the Excellence El Carmen. The place was beautiful. We had the plunge pool room which was located on the rooftop above the restaurants. The resort is big, but not too big to be able to get around comfortably. They were very cautious to let people in the resort that are not staying, so you always feel safe. We ate at several of the restaurant, but not all of them due the several to pick from and all the food was delicious. Remember, you can always pick several from the appetizers and several entrées so don’t feel like you’re over ordering. The only thing that I can think of is that they need to fix or update the USB ports in the rooms ours did not work but the plugs did. Entertainment was nice, but could have been better, but that is just my opinion."

"The biggest challenge throughout our stay was the language barrier. We do not speak Spanish, and although some staff members spoke English reasonably well, many did not. Even after realizing that we could not understand Spanish, staff would often continue speaking Spanish to us. We found ourselves relying on Google Translate throughout the trip just to communicate basic questions and requests. This created a lot of frustration and made it difficult to get clear answers or understand important information. Our problems began immediately upon arrival. After a long day of travel with a young child, the check-in process took much longer than expected. When we finally reached our room, we discovered that our Terrace Plunge Pool suite had a leak inside the closet area. We called maintenance multiple times and waited a long time without assistance. Eventually, we had to pack everything again and move to a different room. I do want to recognize Cindy, one of the managers, who was kind and genuinely tried to make things right. She contacted us personally and offered a complimentary Dinner on the Beach as compensation for the inconvenience. We appreciated the gesture and her professionalism. Unfortunately, the dinner itself was another disappointment. Although we were told it was valued at approximately $250, the food was very similar to what was already available at the buffet. More importantly, the mosquito situation was terrible. Our family was constantly being bitten, making i"

"Nothing was remarkable about this resort, except for the amount of mosquitos in the area. I don’t think they fumigate at all. The AC vents all leak water and if you’re not careful you’ll easily slip on the floor. I asked room service to bring me 4 beers and they brought 3, and they were warm. They have 2 theaters but don’t mention which one their nightly shows are in. There was just a lot of miscommunication. The “Dinner on the beach” for Expedia customers was not on the beach. It was also a pre-fixe menu that didn’t include vegetarian options. None of those things were clearly stated."

"El hotel ya lo habíamos visitado antes y el deterioro en todo es súper notable. Las habitaciones se sienten viejas y la limpieza deja mucho que desear. Los elevadores no funcionan bien, en un hotel de niños. Llegas a las pocos lugares de bebidas o comida y es súper limitado o no tienen. El personal solo se preocupa por venderte la membresía prestige y si dices que NO se olvidan de atenderte y ayudarte en toda la estadía. No informan de forma clara nada de lo que pasará en el día, el primer día que llegamos y el segundo el buffet cerrado sin razón. Las piscinas se ven bastante deterioradas y hasta sucias en algunos lugares. En fin por el costo NO volvería, ni lo recomiendo. La gente se veía muy molesta cuando pagamos por vacaciones para disfrutar."
