"An absolute delight. Beautiful, historic, modern, delicious, friendly, intimate, relaxing; I could go on. Breakfast great, wine fantastic, dinner convenient and fun, pool with an indescribably breathtaking view. We watched the cook bring the lettuce from the garden and the grapes are grown right there. A bit more difficult than we expected to go places without a car, but was a fun adventure to walk. We showed up with no plans and Maria set up all our tastings and tours. Make sure to ask the family’s story."
"Our stay at Quinta Da Marka was exceptional. This centuries-old vineyard overlooks the Douro River, with sweeping views in every direction. The accommodations are a newer addition and include seven comfortable, well-appointed rooms. Guests can also enjoy the pool, scenic river-view terraces, and walking paths through the vineyard. The family lives on site, and our host, Angela, was warm and welcoming. Her sister and mother staff the kitchen and visit guests during dinner to make sure everyone is enjoying the meal. The food and wine were outstanding. Breakfast offers prepared entrées for each guest, plus a generous buffet. I highly recommend this property and would gladly return on another trip to northern Portugal."
"Book tours and tastings at La Rosa as soon as you book your room as they sell out.
If traveling from Pinhao, I recommend arranging a car before you travel. There is a single uber/bolt driver and he lives outside the area so waits are long. There are many alternative private transfers that you can book but you won’t want to be walking your bags.
The staff and rooms were fantastic. Comfortable bedding and pillow options. The breakfast buffet is everything you need and dinner at the restaurant was wonderful."
"Rooms were good, nice pool and beautiful view. We ate in the restaurant 4 times and the food was okay but you almost had to beg for a second glass of wine , never was it offered or were you asked if you want more. I think wine should be plentiful in D’ouro valley!"
"What a fabulous break we have just had thanks to Manual and his team. This is a family run , small Vinyard in a stunning location. We even had a little tour of the old house which is dating back 19 generations of the family. We booked on the day while touring the area. The rooms are brand new , inside old barns and buildings. Small but just what we needed as we had a large pool and garden just near the room. The breakfast was excellent. Served by really nice staff. We went for the dinner and wine tasting option which was also excellent and with lots of great info about their wines. We were lucky to have great weather so at sunset we sat in the gardens with a glass of wine , actually in the vines… how relaxing. We would highly recommend this place for a break away from busy life. It’s a small village, only 2 little cafes , but the one we spent an evening in was ideal, cheap wine and simply food , a welcome rest from a busy week in Porto City. Overall 5/5 or 10/10 for this lovely private accommodation. "
