Great stay at this charming historic inn. Very comfortable room with a cozy bed and excellent walk-in shower. Owners made everything very clear and easy, including self check-in. Excellent location in walking distance to major sites.

The location was great. Easy to find and safe to walk around at anytime of the day. Room was wonderful. The bed was firm which my husband mentioned a few times and we needed to ask for more pillows since ours flattened out quick but overall a wonderful stay.

We loved this historic property! It was like staying in a living museum. Though we never met any staff personally, all communication via text and email was helpful, clear and descriptive, i.e. codes to get into the building, where to park, info about breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely beautiful property and room! We were in the Rajah room which was quite spacious and beautifully designed. The owner was very polite and responsive to our texts and questions. We had a simple continental breakfast that was included, and the highlight were the different teas that they make in house. It was fun to see the interiors of the older home from the 1600s, and appreciated the explanation of the history of the home from Patrick.

The property is beautiful located 2 blocks from shops, many attractions and the harbor. Even though it is so close to everything it is quiet. I can’t say enough great things about Veejay. He was very informative, friendly and while we were only there for 1 night it felt like we made a friend.

No staff available on arrival. You got to figure things out or call. It’s stressful. Thermostat was in the hallway so you share settings with other rooms. Breakfast choice is underwhelming. Room and Bath was nice. Location is good and the antique ambiance is very nice.

Great location and cool experience. But parking is a nightmare. I thought we had onsite parking but ended up getting yelled at by the owner because we pissed off another person staying who apparently had the right to park onsite. We had to park 3 blocks away and it rained the whole time. Both times I had to contact the owner, he was rude and it just ruined the experience for us. If you just need a place to sleep and keep your stuff, this is the place. Just don't expect any hospitality.

The Silsbee House was conveniently located to most things we wanted to do in Salem. It was also fantastically clean! We stayed in the Rajah room and it was beautiful. The bed was also very comfortable. I appreciated the attention to detail. I also loved that Beekman 1802 products were in the shower. I have sensitive skin and their products don't irritate me. The only thing that would made it more comfortable would have been a place to put my soap bar in the shower and a place to lay out my suitcase in the room, like a suitcase stand. The breakfast each day was simple, standard continental breakfast food. We ended up eating out for breakfast most days. I will be recommending this place to friends!

Our experience at Silsbee's by Daniels House for our 7th wedding anniversary was disappointing, and we checked out a day early. Although the room was beautifully decorated, there was no place to sit other than the bed. This made it impossible for us to relax and have a glass of wine or play a game. There was a giant bathtub in the middle of the room, which was atmospheric but impractical. A table and chairs would have better served the space and its guests. My husband's shower was cut short because the hot water ran out. Filling a bathtub of that size seemed unlikely. Although there was a lovely patio outside where we could relax in the summer, it was inaccessible during winter or inclement weather, leaving us with nowhere else to go. The next-door sister inn of Silsbee's does have space to sit, but it is only accessible to guests of Silsbee's during breakfast. We recommend that the owners open up that space to all guests, so there is a place to hang out and relax after a long day. The only gourmet item we found during the continental breakfast was the tea, which was delicious. The website and reality did not align, possibly because it might have been gourmet at one time, but it was not the case during our visit. Nothing appeared to be home-baked except maybe the muffins. There were no croissants and instead of those, there was some very sad looking sliced bread and English muffins. The coffee was made using K-Cups from Kroger, and the bananas were overly ripe.

Beautiful property. Close enough to walk to all the town attractions and free assigned off street parking. However the stairs to the 2nd floor are high and steep. There is no insulation in the place. You can literally see the room below through the floor boards and it sounds like the people down there are in the same room. For us that meant a very loud group of people who kept us up. At no point did we see anyone who ran the place. Everything came via email. A code to the door, how to get in, how to leave the place, etc.. The bed was extra firm and we both ended up in pain each morning, plus I think the shower needs a PHD to work it.
