"The room was absolutely spectacular! We travel all over and this was one of our all-time favorite hotel, hotels, luxurious, beautiful refined. The staff was very charming, especially Mario the morning breakfast was lovely. The spa was really luxurious. My husband and I had a wonderful time in it. I almost don't want to review this place because I want it to be our secret little gem, but it's sort of too good to keep quiet. It was really amazing. "

The only downsides were that the bed caved in alot, which made it uncomfortable to sleep, and the room was humid — though that’s expected in a cave environment. "The Pianelle Resort in heart of Sassi Caveoso was so convenient to so many sites and restaurants nearby. The view as well immediately at the doorstep was breathtaking. The room was spacious and luxurious with exposed stone walls and ceilings which provided an immersive experience if staying in the caves of Matera. The breakfast options too were delicious and highlighted the local produce and cuisine. We had an amazing 2 nights and would definitely return. "
