We had such a lovely week long stay here. The space felt incredibly homey and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The host was kind, inclusive, and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even better. The place was eco-friendly, and it’s clear a lot of care was put into creating a space that’s entirely animal-friendly, mindful of nature and a sanctuary for humans. It felt peaceful, comfortable, and easy to settle into. It’s located in a quiet area away from the loud nightlife, but still only about a 12-minute walk into the heart of town. We felt safe the entire time and loved having the balance of calm and convenience. We Will absolutely stay again. (Bonus points for awesome resident cat)

"I usually tend to stay in high-end, Western-style hotels, so I admit I have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness. I was looking to step out of my comfort zone for a more natural, local experience off the beaten path, and this place delivered. El Refugio is new and Marcelo is currently building it out, but the rooms themselves were spotless. As a designer myself, I have to say his style and vision are absolutely on point. A few things to note: the common areas are a bit more 'raw' and rustic (a little dusty, living in the jungle vibe), and the surrounding area is a little off-putting at first glance. However, it is just a short walk to the city and beach, so it works out perfectly. Marcelo was fantastic—an all-around great host and very herb-friendly. If you are looking for a unique spot with a great vibe, I highly recommend it."

Little hotel in Sayulita

This is a little hotel that will take your breath away. It has a salt pool, a gym, a kitchen that you can use even a sauna. The staff make you feel at home all the time.

Marcel at the accommodations was fantastic. We realize it is a new property and he is continuously working on it. We stayed in the cabin/terrace overlooking the pool. It’s a very neat room, however no sound proofing in walls or doors/windows, since the walls are just boards and the doors/windows just screens. The resident gato is very friendly as well. If we returned to Sayulita, we would stay here again.

Overall a below average experience, especially as it cost nearly $200 USD. The room itself was spacious and thoughtful designed, and the pool was heated and very nice. The garden area had nice landscaping. The place was not customer service oriented or particularly welcoming, so the atmosphere was not comfortable for us.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nous avons séjourné 10 jours à El Refugio de Sayulita, mon conjoint et moi, et ce fut une expérience absolument magnifique. Marcelo est un hôte exceptionnel : incroyablement gentil, accueillant et attentionné. Il nous préparait de délicieux déjeuners, toujours faits avec soin et amour. Il nous a aussi fait découvrir de superbes activités. L’endroit est magnifique, entouré d’une ambiance de petite jungle, très apaisante. C’est parfaitement situé : assez proche du centre de Sayulita pour en profiter facilement, mais assez loin pour se reposer au calme et vraiment décrocher. Nous avons adoré chaque moment passé ici et nous recommandons El Refugio de Sayulita les yeux fermés. Un vrai petit coin de paradis 🌿✨

NO hubo luz y NO hay agua en el baño (llegamos +/- 1900 hrs al hotel) 2145 hrs me confirman por Whatss que no va a haber luz toda la noche. Marcelo atento en la atención de la llamada, tratando de resolver su tema de luz sin éxito. No me quedé en el hotel; se requiere esos servicios básicos para descansar
