The Dolphin

10/10 Excellent
"Perfect, clean family room with separate sleeping areas, it offered plenty of space for two teenagers and two adults. Lots of storage so ideal for a longer stay. Bathroom was spacious and the shower was great. There was an additional wardrobe space for extra storage too. The breakfast area was again clean and spacious, plenty of tables to choose from. The menu offered a good variety including vegetarian and vegan options, hot food was cooked to order but there was also a buffet on offer with fruit, yoghurts, pastries and cereals. The cooked breakfast was very filling and the pancakes were enjoyed by our teenagers! The staff were very welcoming and friendly, took us to our room and explained everything to us. The bar area was spacious and had different cosy areas and bars including an outdoor seating area. There was also an outdoor bar available on the one evening. Would recommend and definitely stay here again."

8/10 Good
"We had another really enjoyable stay and would definitely stay here again. The hotel is exceptionally clean, modern and feels very new. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and our room was excellent, with a really comfortable bed that made for a great night’s sleep. The coffee station on each floor is a great idea, although I found it quite confusing to use. Having to go out into the corridor at all hours to get a drink also put me off using it, especially as the machine wasn’t particularly straightforward. The restaurant staff were friendly, but things did feel a little calamitous at times, which was also our experience last year. Hopefully this is something that can improve. One thing I was particularly pleased to discover was that the hotel accepts the Blue Light Card. Unfortunately, I didn’t find this out until my last drink of the evening, so it would be great if this could be made more obvious to guests on arrival. Overall, we had a great stay. The hotel is clean, comfortable and modern, and despite the few small issues, we will definitely be returning."

The Royal Lion Hotel

The Royal Lion Hotel

8/10 Good
"An historic building in the centre of Lyme Regis, 5 minutes from the beach, with parking. Our room had a fine view of the bay, was comfortable and clean, with a modern shower/toilet. The furniture was a mish-mash of old pieces, but it all worked. The building is old and rambling, with staircases (no lifts). Breakfast was good, the staff were willing but a bit inexperienced. Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good. Our vegetarian needs were well met. All-in-all, we had a pleasant short break in this town, the 'Pearl of Dorset'."
