Average Stay.
The hotel has the potential to be lovely but the room decor is very tired. The bathroom is tiny with a minuscule shower stall and nowhere to store anything. The room although spacious was badly in need of a deep clean especially the carpet which was very badly stained. The restaurant was just OK. The staff however made up for the other shortcomings.

I booked into the Golden Lion to visit family in the local area. I spent a lot of my childhood in Settle and nearby Langcliffe. The staff were very friendly and the rooms clean and tidy. We had dinner in the restaurant with some family and it was very good. Breakfast we great and the staff attentive.

Great stay to help with doing the Yorkshire 3 pks
Really comfortable stay and ideal location in Settle to have things to do but close to the Yorkshire 3 peaks start. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

overall good BUT !
service and place overall were great, been before ,,, although looking tired !! (a bit dirty in places) bedroom was ok but hot ! but the bathroom was very small !! knowhere to put things in bathroom , shower was very small and the doors were hanging off ! step out of the shower and you were stood by the toilet door, nowhere to dry yourself !

Clean and comfortable rooms with good amenities. In the centre of settle so close to shops, restaurants and walking paths. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious with a good selection of options. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others

One to avoid
Dated, small, expensive, just not a comfortable place to stay. The bar was good and the bed comfortable, but everything else was poor. We looked out on scaffolding with a noisy air conditioner from the kitchen. Don't bring your cat; there is nowhere to swing it. You need to move the bed to turn off the light. The cost was far too high for what it was

Hotel looked most up to date in Settle. Rooms well furnished. Nice touch with home made biscuits and coffee bags in room. Good quality toiletries and lovely large, soft towels. Was not told the room would not be cleaned after first night which was disapoining. Ate in restaurant first evening food very good; however, service poor as staff very young and inexperienced. Breakfast staff were very good confident and experienced. Wasn't aware there was no onsite parking until arrival. Settle pretty village with some nice shops

It's OK
Rooms was Ok if a little small, and no lighting by dressing table. Not the greatest service with the drink/meal with things they didn't have and some problems checking out, which I'm sure isn't usual though.

Great central location. The staff are absolutely great, so friendly and helpful. Our room (4) was very clean and comfortable. The food was very good. The only downside is lack of parking, although there is parking nearby.

Lovely pub with really friendly staff! The room was clean and cosy with a super comfortable bed and plenty of tea, coffee and shortbread. There is no parking at the pub itself, but the gentleman who booked us in was really helpful and directed us to a place nearby. We went to a gig at the Settle Victoria Hall which is literally 60 seconds walk from the pub - it’s ideal if that’s where you’re headed! We would definitely come again.

Superb level of service!
From the moment we arrived, service was first-rate - and stayed that way throughout…! From keeping the kitchen open a little longer for us to get our dinner, to the treats and affection for our dog, we could not fault the service at all. Our room was also pretty good. The only thing we noted was the squeakiness of the bed: not sure whether it was the headboard or the connection between the two beds. A minor challenge to getting a good night’s sleep in what was otherwise a very comfortable room.

We loved the Golden Lion. Excellent service, very friendly staff and all very relaxed. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner on the one night we ate in. The hotel is well situated in the centre of settle. The offsite parking is close by and cheap.

Great stay in nice hotel
This was our third stay at the Golden Lion but the first for some time. We had a very comfortable room (it was quite hot so we should have asked for a fan) and the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was very good and the hotel is well situated for the local sites and walking trails. There is no car park so parking can be a slight nuisance but we managed that perfectly well by parking in the town. We would definitely stay again and felt the price reflected good value.
