Visit the spectacular "ASTRA" National Museum Complex, with an enormous open-air museum dedicated to Romanian peasant life. Spread over 237 acres (96 hectares), the museum features more than 400 traditional structures, including mills, wooden churches and homes. Sibiu is said to host more annual festivals than any other Romanian city, so you’re sure to find exciting events taking place during your visit. Come here during June to attend the International Theatre Festival, one of the country’s most famous performing arts events. One major highlight is the Transylvania International Film Festival in July, which features more than 200 films from 60 nations.
Sibiu is located 170 miles (270 kilometres) northwest of Bucharest. To get here, take the train from Bucharest and catch a trolleybus to the city centre.
