"This was my first time at an Elgin heritage property and the charm and what makes it special are the small details. The monogrammed china and serving sets, the Tibetan and Sikkimese furniture and decorations. The property abounds with historic photos and artwork. But really what is truly special are the views. "

"Worst hotel and rudest customer service in 25 years We were wrongfully charged for meals for an extra guest ! The hotel at Pelling said they couldn’t do anything abt it. So I called and emailed the Elgin main customer service at Kolkata couple of times. They were extremely rude, and hung up on me the first time, just after 3 minutes. I called hotels.com requesting a refund of the extra charges. Hotels.com agreed with us but the Elgin (Ms. Sonali) denied us any refund. I emailed the Elgin but they simply did not respond. Don’t book this hotel - we got NO view of the Kanchenjunga. Many hotels in the area falsely claim to offer views of the Kanchenjuna. "

"For one night stay was okay but encountered bugs in the room, which staff took care of it! Bathroom don’t have full covering door so water spills out in supposed to be dry area."
