"Love the Southwinds! It is a funky little beach hotel with old wall A/C units and a bar on property that plays live music most of the day and late into the night. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it is exactly right for me on a Key West adventure. The staff are all super nice and helpful. There are muffins, fruit, cereal and coffee served in the lobby until 10 every morning. The pools are wonderful and well kept. The property is nice and tropical with decent parking. It can be loud. The walls are thin. I was glad I had a room far enough away from the bar that I could hear it just a little bit, but not loud enough to keep me awake if I decided to call it a night at a somewhat decent hour. And had neighbors arguing one night and then getting in at 4 am and bringing friends to party until the sun came up another night. Annoying."

"In my opinion this location is the best in all of Key West. There is plenty of everything in the south side of the island. Unless you are going for the drunk college crown on the north side, stick to the south. The Reach has one of the few sand beaches directly on site. Also the pool is right there so you can enjoy both. Poolside bar and restaurant with service to both the pool and beach area can't be beat. There are some of the best local spots near the Reach that are literally steps away. Would highly recommend making sure you do not keep leftover food items laying around in your room. The rooms are very nice, updated, and clean, however, the building is overall on the older side (as most everything in Key West) and there is a gap with light showing in some of the doors to your room where roaches or ants can easily come through. I did not see any but I also live exceptionally cleanly."
