The hotel is in a convenient area right by the metro station, but also situated by a very busy highway. We chose to stay there because of free parking (There was no sign for guest parking. We just guessed that it was in front of the hotel and parked there). The room was clean and decent. But, on a warm day in Sofia, the hotel decided not to turn the A/C on and leave the hotel on ventilate (this is according to what the staff told us).
Around 8-9 PM, I informed a male staff that the room was very hot and asked him how to turn on A/C in our room. He told us that temperture was centrally controlled. The control panel in our room only controlled fan speed. He said they didn't have A/C on at the time. He said he would ask the manager to turn A/C on in the morning. At 12:30AM, the room temperture was up to 26.5 C (79.7 F). We tried leaving the window opened because by that time, it was a lot cooler outside, but we couldn't sleep because there was still a fair amount of traffic noise from the highway. We were on the second floor. My husband called and asked again if the A/C could be turned on. The staff said he could not turn it on, only the manager could. He said there was nothing he could do for us.
We ended up checking out at 1 AM with the same male staff that we talked to both times. There was no apology from him and all we got was a blank stare.
