"Great room, excellent bed & bedding. Bathroom well equipped with plenty of hot water. Parking was included & close by. Staff very welcoming & accommodating. Lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Our steaks were cooked to perfection & the whole meal delicious. Only thing to let the hotel down was breakfast. Breakfast buffet was dry; the bacon was hard & fried eggs rubbery. The pot of tea was awful, which was a surprise at tea bags in bedroom were delicious. It was bad tea & doesn’t seem to have been made with boiling water. We would gladly return despite the tea ! "

"Very relaxed atmosphere and staff always polite and helpful - brilliant location for an overnight stay being actually on the motorway but once at the hotel you wouldn’t know it. "

"Stayed several times best hotel in Kendal rooms spotless staff polite/ helpful and breakfast very tasty just slightly disappointed they are refurbing their pool area at present but won't hesitate to return."

"After a great welcome on arrival I was shown to my room which was spotless. Looks like it’s been recently renovated. I’ll be stopping here again when I’m next in Penrith. Great value for money."

"A lovely old world pub, the highest in Britain. Lovely ambience, cosy bar areas and nice rooms. Just a few scruffy areas like the carpet going up to the accommodation and the ceiling and floor of the bathroom sliding door area. However it is understandable with being a busy pub with people with work boots and walking boots constantly in and out. The food was good, with lots of choice and well cooked. We had a slight blip checking in but it was sorted out quickly and efficiently. Overall a lovely stay in an iconic pub with a great atmosphere."

"When i returned home, i noticed that the amount that had been taken from my bank account was more than the itemised invoice. I challenged this but was told there was nothing they can do about it. It looked as though someone had been charging drinks to my room. Very disappointed. I won't be returning. "
