"We were pleasantly surprised with this property. The owners have done a great job either remodeling or keeping up with the maintenance needs as this hotel was very nice. The bed slept great, and our room had the sparkling cleanest shower/bathtub I’ve ever seen for a lower star hotel. The girl who checked us in was very nice and pleasant. The only thing we were not happy about was that the girl who was on duty the day we were to check out would not let us use the pool because ”we were checking out that day”. This is something we’ve never had issues with at any other hotel (and we travel a ton) ; as long as we were still a guest, we were always able to use the amenities, so this was very disappointing. Overall, great place and we would stay again"

Hampton Inn Gretna - Smith Mountain Lake

"Thr room was as advertised. There were two queen beds and the bathtub was handicap accessible. The room was very large. There was plenty of space for our suitcases and my rollator. And we could move around comfortably. The closet was big and had an iron and ironing board. There was a full length mirror which is much needed for checking your attire before you leave. I liked the two shades that were remote controlled. One was light and it is used to add more light to the room during the day. The other is a room darkening shade. The bathroom was spacious. My only complaint about it was that a towel bar should be installed near the sink for the hand towels. The breakfast items were plentiful and delicious. Every staff member was very pleasant and helpful. Staff members sent text messages to find out if I was satisfied with my accommodations and to let them know if I needed anything. They also answered my questions about restaurants and the grocery store. I would stay there again."
