"Room was in lower area very dark outlook was a wall or a very high building space surrounded by scaffolding Room was very large with one Queen and one double bed Not the room we were expecting at all as we had booked a double"
"Only one issue, on any holiday or short break, I only want to quickly check TV for weather and News. The lovely large TV, was just too fiddly to operate "
"Hotel very quirky. I had a basement room which was very dark and a little noisy. Room was impeccable in terms of cleanliness and staff simply couldn't have been more helpful. Great proximity to sights and good value for money "
"Disappointing - very dirty pee stained mattress.
I’ve emailed the hotel twice to avoid leaving this negative feedback online - but no reply, so here goes …
There was an odd smell in the small room, I pulled back the sheets to see a big yellow pee stain on the mattress on one side, along with other stains across mattress. The big pee stain had also transferred to the mattress protector, which suggests the protector was put on the bed while the stain was still damp!
I told reception, no apology but they did give me another room - not quite as nice and even smaller, but cleaner. (I maybe should have asked for upgrade or compensation?)
The Churchill is a good looking hotel and great location but so very disappointing that they think it’s ok to let guests sleep on filthy mattresses that should be thrown out and replaced.
If I’d not checked, then I would have been sleeping on a pee stained mattress (potentially still damp), which is disgusting.
I hope no one else is unfortunate to stay in the room until the mattress has been replaced (1st room next to reception).
It also raises the question- are any other beds in this dirty condition?"
"Breakfast was, although would prefer to be served free tea & coffee, rather than having to queue at a machine forva very average drink. Room was comfortable & spacious, despite the decor being a little worn especially in the bathroom. Parking was good. All the staff we had contact were excellent, very friendly and helpful."
