The view from the room was fabulous! The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, we really enjoyed our stay! There are plenty of common spaces inside and outside to spend some time relaxing
This was an interesting hotel. It was quite hard to find and when I asked local they thought it had closed down. I had to get the lovely lady who runs it to come and take me as I got lost so many times. On arrival it looked like an abandoned hotel. Only one car in a large car park. No reception. No staff (other than the one lady). No breakfast facilities other than cereal boxes to help yourself to. It felt very uncomfortable and unsafe for a solo female. Left without seeing anyone else. Felt very odd and strange set up.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. So beautiful with lots of space and the facilities were great. Friendly, welcoming and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Extremely rude young lady when we arrived to check in. We were 40 minutes early and she abruptly told us she would charge us extra for being early. We asked her could we sit at the bar and get some food and were told they weren’t doing food so walk into the little village.
The hotel advertises food and drink so that’s false advertising. You walk into the hotel and there’s a horrible musty smell so we walked straight back out and booked into a nearby Inn
Lovely hotel, lovely setting. Big room, comfy bed. Quiet. Friendly and accommodating staff, free breakfast.

From start to finish this was a bad experience, on arrival it was not clear where to go when you checked in - the phone number was incorrect on the door when we called and reception had moved. No iron in the room, had to get one from reception which proved difficult - we were then woke up at 8am by another guest to get the iron. No toilet roll in room, had trouble getting the shower to the right temperature due to dodgy handle. Key card was not allocated the right nights so had to ring reception to get back into room late at night on the 2nd night. Also didn't get a key to get back into the building, we had to use a hidden lock box in the bushes which was very odd. The building was lovely and you can definitely see the potential, just lacked any real service or offering - shame to see such a lovely building going this way.
What a little gem this hotel is, there is no restaurant, but has a communial room with facilities to be able to make food. This didnt bother me & my boyfriend as we could get up and go out to eat as & when we liked. Room was massive and so comfy, window sill was so wide i could sit in it reading my book and looking at the sea.
Maria who runs this hotel on her own is a amazing, nothing was to much trouble, very knowledgeable and helpful, nothing was too much for her. I would personally stay here again.
Had a different experience staying at the Llawnroc compared to other hotels. Met by Maria on our arrival, gave us a tour of accommodation and was very helpful. I didn’t realise there did not offer breakfast or meals when booking but it was actually ok, better in fact. Not tied to times and have other options. The beach is literally a few mins walk down the hill with a cafe, shop which serves breakfast and a fish and chip shop. Our accommodation very clean and bed was comfy. We visited when very hot and the air con does not work but Maria popped a fan in our room. Would highly recommend, short drive to Mevagessy, great place to visit when tide in and see resident seal!! Boat trip to Fowey worth a go. Overall a relaxing stay.
A lovely property, great rooms and communal areas. I love the idea that it operated as almost self catering, without traditional hotel services. It was calm and quiet, very relaxing stay, would definitely come again. Fantastic little village and beach within walking distance.
Maria is an absolute star!
The Llawnroc was run by Maria on her own during our stay. She did everything, from welcoming us on arrival, to providing information on local places to eat, to cleaning rooms and even fixing the boiler when there was no hot water on the Saturday morning when the plumber chose not to attend until midday.
It would be an idea for the management to make proper contracts with tradesmen for immediate response to this type of breakdown to ensure it does not become an issue.
The web site should be more explicit about the facilities at the Llawnroc as it is effectively self catering with some small food items, milk, cornflakes being provided.
We had to stay here onky for 1 night. Unfortunately a damage to our motorcycle obliged to stay in Gorran Haven for 4 nights. The accomodation in hotel was perfect but without a rental car the place is isolated, nice but not for long stays.
Amazing place to stay! The room was huge, very clean, and well-maintained. It’s also close to the beach with wonderful views. Thank you for the fantastic experience!
Enjoyable 2 night stay for my birthday. Fantastic restaurant and great staff.

The profile photo (overlooking beach with nice garden) is misleading as it is not the hotel that we booked. This led to us being disappointed upon arrival and basically for most of our stay. The Hotel is more oriented around it’s restaurant which has an expensive one price for all main meals and a very expensive cooked breakfast or more affordable very limited continental breakfast. We had to try really hard to enjoy our stay which we did as the surrounding area is beautiful. The staff at the hotel and restaurant did their best within a thinly manned hotel and room service which was very hit and miss. We really wanted to have a more comfortable hotel to have our one holiday of the year in and at the prices charged this hotel needs to do much better.
Good location. Well-appointed. Could be lovely. But staffing levels very low and we found they were mostly absent - this was of concern when we had a problem with a key, and we consider it could have become a safety issue. When we could get hold of them, staff were pleasant but relatively ineffectual. Cleaning was minimal - you shouldn't have to complain to have a bed made and bathroom cleaned properly - and we didn't request cleaning every day. It was noticeable that the large expanses of glass were not being cleaned. Wifi didn't work for us, no matter what we tried - but it worked elsewhere in the village. Everything seemed to run off a computer system which didn't function properly or had poor connection. No working aircon and windows in the room only opened a fraction. It was stifling. A very noisy mobile aircon unit was eventually put in the room on an extension lead. Musak on all day until 11.00pm, audible in the room. Musak until 9.00pm on the terrace very audible in the room. No privacy in rooms overlooking the terrace without closing the curtains.
All the potentially great features of this hotel were eclipsed by a lack of staff and care - these things cannot be replaced by a computer programme and a remote mobile contact number.
We were disappointed.

I would not recommend this hotel at all.
We did not stay at the hotel due to having both caught Covid. We asked the hotel with plenty of notice to either refund our booking because we were to unwell to travel, or to hold our finances so we could rebook when free of Covid. They absolutey refused us either option. So we paid out for two days stay but did not go there. This is why we give such a low star rating. I would now not recommend anyone use this hotel. Such old fashioned way of doing business in a modern era.
We stayed a couple of nights this week - pre-check-in service from Maria was amazing - really helpful messaging service - slightly frustrated however that hotels.com did not include the hidden additional cost of the extra bed for our daughter and dog this was added later and had to pay on check in! Room was lovely very spacious, quiet and great view (room 11) our main issue and reason for 3 stars for service was the breakfast - very expensive £18 for what we got - all very over-cooked full English and the coffee was the worst we have had! Such a shame as such a dog-friendly hotel and loved the fact that we could take her with us in all parts of the hotel! Loved Gorran Haven Overall very happy but the breakfast needs to be improved for that price!

Midweek Break
Location is good but feel its a little run down and need of refurb
Shower wasnt very good didnt work properly also lighting not working as it should and carpet needed good vacum
Didnt really feel the dining area and bar were part of hotel and therefore didnt really mix with anyone
Also not one member of staff spoke to us during the stay apart from rececptionist
Could be a good hotel though
Feel the owners are missing a trick here
