Please ignore any historical reviews about the hotel and its previous need of modernisation. The hotel has had a complete refit - in fact I was speaking to a hotel maintenance employee, he said that the floor I was staying on had quite literally had a refit the previous week!
Good value for money, and literally next door to Stoke on Trent railway station (It's the old station hotel)
I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Hotel has recently reopened so there’s bound to be some snagging.
No bin in room or bathroom, no towel rail, part of door jarm not painted.
No staff to be seen at breakfast and went to reception to ask for eggs as none left.
Staff on reception were helpful and apologised.
The bedding and bathroom was clean and staff told me that the hotel has been fully refurbished. The dining room and hotel has an elegant but cosy feel.
Big rooms, overall good for the price. Fantastic location. Helpful staff.

Great value overnight stay
I had a decent stay, clean and comfortable room, excellent service from hotel staff. Yes the hotel is worn and in need of a lick of paint and some tlc etc, but I feel this is well reflected in the price. Would stay again if I’m the area, nice breakfast. I was expecting a lot worse based on the reviews, which I didn’t find to be the case in the main.
The staff are helpful but you need to ask for things: extra tea/coffee/milk/bubble bath/iron. The place could do with new windows but the inside downstairs is beautiful.
Staff very friendly, food left a lot to be desired, rooms really tired and dated, needs complete overall. There for 2 nights for a short break, had to ask for a different room on arrival has original was terrible, cheap cheerful, guess it is what it is, not somewhere I would personally stay again.

Rooms are basic and small, its ok if just want room to put your head down. Rooms could do with some basic upgrading to help make them look more modern
Shower was good, very powerful but if your short there is struggle actually to climb into the bath to get under shower as side part of bath is quite wide
Staff very friendly and helpful. Very central and littarly 1 min walk from train station and bus stops

As expected for the price
You get what you pay for. Very overdue a refurb, very old decor. But surprisingly clean, good shower and comfy bed. Only stayed 1 night so it's all we needed. Chose for location more than anything and suited us fine.
for a 3 star hotel, the condition of the property seems run down, a renovation would be needed to make this place thrive, beds are well a bed, but not the best at all, night porter walking around woke us up 3 times in the night, not much sound proofing for the rooms
One night, impressive cleanliness, friendly reception personnel, all I needed in my room was there, neat, smart, comfortable, an iron and board provided 10/10👏 My main issue was the Wi-Fi, either week or no signal for the free one, fortunately I had my own. The small sink in the bathroom could do with a change in taps perhaps🙃 all in all my stay was a definite 9.5/10! Keep up the good work team👏👏👏👏 I will definitely come back soon.
Overall it was good and cheap. We stayed only one night. We are happy about our room .We did not get the chance to meet their staff .Only we met the receptionist, he was nice and polite person.Their lift was not working it was shame.
I am stunned about how bad this hotel was. Old, dilapidated and not clean. I should have realised, given Britannia Hotels’ reputation. But Shame on Hotels.com for listing this place.

Although clean, facilities poor and very dated.
Wedding music loud under room but did stop at 12.30am as told.
There were stains on the bed sheets, wallpaper on the ceiling was hanging off. The room room was grubby and smelt musty. The toilet seat was loose and the bathroom door didn’t shut properly. The only good thing was that the staff were lovely

North Stafford
Hotel is very run down and needs a complete overhaul. Although clean the bathroom was in terrible state even with bare earth wires on the towel rail and very cramped. The bedroom was outdated and very small to the point you couldn't open the drawers fully due to the bed. Definitely would not return here.

Disappointing stay
When we entered the room, whole room smelled like cleaning liquid and we have to open window all night. Hotel didn’t provide any shampoos as well. A bit disappointing.
