"The Heronston is a lovely hotel, lovely refurb, pool and dining. We just had a few issues which made it not so great. - steam room was out of order - ran out of towels as the hotel was let down by their linen company (but should have contingency) - strange process for accessing spa which means relinquishing your room key for a spa key but the reception is NOT close to the spa and you have to walk round ‘pool ready’ which is very inappropriate - the fan in the bathroom is so loud it kept us...

"Absolutely gob-smacked when we arrived at the Barnstaple Hotel, it was fantastic and totally unexpected. Staff were lovely, ambience great and it was just so welcoming. It was a fairly last minute booking, a one night stay and I hadn't really taken much notice of reviews etc. Great regret that I hadn't packed my swim-wear as the pools looked so enticing. Our room was so comfortable, such a shame that we couldn't spend longer there. Couldn't fault the hotel at all and we will definitely make a point of returning to Barnstaple and spending a few days at the Barnstaple Hotel, it was a holiday in itself."
