"This is a lovely, clean and inviting B&B - made exceptional by the couple who run it.
My room and the whole place felt spacious, the views are lovely (across fields down to the harbour), and also the location is great even if you don't have your own transport.
I'm vegan, and not only was there plenty to choose from, but they'd have got in more had my message got through the system soon enough! I had fresh fruit and toast every morning, and having breakfast cooked to order was so nice, too :)
The main X1 bus stops a couple of minutes from the B&B, though I ended up walking to and from the harbour and town - partly because on Sunday the buses don't start early enough to get you to the ferry to Hoy(!), and then because I realised how quick the walk is (20 mins there, maybe 25 mins back uphill). But it's an excellent location to see everything from, with or without a car.
So many nice touches go up to make this a great place - from things like having proper big cups in the room to make tea, to incredibly comfy beds and a blackout blind. And the hosts are just so lovely: friendly but professional, and obviously happy to share their enthusiasm for the islands they're from. I'd recommend this B&B unreservedly."
"Great little place, in a great little village. Easy access to the Orkneys. Robertson's Pub is a local place with good food an atmosphere, just around the corner."
"Murray Arms Hotel is the nicest place I’ve stayed. The family owned hotel is warm & cozy with exceptional hospitality, superb food & chill ambiance by the shore. Great location, peaceful, charming & lovely retreat. Locals enjoy it too."
"I fell in love with Orkney and it was completely unexpected. I expected to like it just fine but I truly didn't want to leave. This hotel has comfortable rooms and a delicious restaurant that capped off our days of exploring."
"A beautiful place to stay when visiting Orkney. Ideal location to get to all the sights. Accommodation was perfect and Albert and Aileen couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!"
"Charming older hotel, great location a short walk from the ferry terminal.A bit on the worn out side, but clean and comfortable. No elevator that I saw and there is a 1 story walk up to reception, I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with mobility issues. The parking at the back is limited and a little intimidating at first. The staff are helpful and friendly."
