Exceptionally friendly staff! You were made to feel welcome. Very clean designated bathroom down the hall. Would stay here again. So convenient for taking ferry to see the island art.

Still great!
Uno Port Inn is still great and the staff are still enthusiastic. It has been 4 years since my last visit and it remains a highlight of our time in Japan. Kudos for making it through the pandemic and continuing to provide great service, a great breakfast and great satisfaction.

Made us feel so welcome!
This little hotel is right across from the ferry terminal and was a fantastic spot to spend a night. The rooms are not luxurious but the bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the care and attention of the owner and staff was incredible. We were given a useful guide to restaurants in Uno and to the art island of Naoshima which was our reason for visiting, and everyone genuinely cared that we had a good time and everything was OK. Highly recommended!

Uno Port Inn was perfect for exploring Teshima and Naoshima. Everything was clean and comfortable and staff was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was also delicious. Hope to stay again sometime!

Had a great experience here. Max is very knowledgeable about the area and gives useful advice - and he makes a great flat white! The Inn is closed for general public in terms of coffees and the restaurant is not working due to Covid situation but there are eating places close by. Location excellent for train and ferry. We had a traditional room and the beds were about the comfiest we have had in 2.5 weeks in Japan. bathrooms although not shared are down the hall from your room. Overall good value for money. I would recommend as a good place before and after seeing the Art islands.

Stay at the Port Uno Inn
When you first walk in you are seated in their cafe and given a full run down of the area and the what there is to do on the nearby islands. Max and the others are incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in your travels and how they can help you out. I really appreciated all their effort and kindness. ALSO breakfast is a must. They make the best breakfast sandwiches. The location is right next to Uno station and all the ferry terminals. There's a 7/11 next door also.

This is the best hotel for international travelers visiting Uno Port and the surrounding islands. The staff is very friendly, and the cafe is great too.

It was a very good experience from the beginning! The owner, Max, is so kind and he made me feel more comfortable in my stay, he is always checking if you're having a great time. The conditions of the room and bath were perfect! Everything cleaned and working, I had my own bathroom so I did not have to hurry because other people were waiting or checking if the shower was available, I had all the privacy that I wanted at a just the price! Really worth it! Definently I'll come back. The Uno Ferry port is just crossing the street, very convenient location.

Highlight of our trip
We loved this place! Our favorite across Japan. It was cute and funky. Service was great. Location was perfect for visiting Naoshima. Convenient coin laundry with dryers that actually worked! Best nights sleep of the whole trip. We stayed in a Japanese style room with futons. Highly recommended

Great staff at the Inn. Their breakfast option is well priced, and they are very knowledgeable about Teshima and Noashima islands. We were able to get suggestions for places to eat nearby. Private bathrooms and comfortable beds. I am 6'2 and managed to bang my head a few times on the low doorways, but aside from that they place is great!

This is an economical place to stay when visiting the art islands. It is right across the street from the ferry boats, and the owner was super helpful explaining the logistics of visiting the islands and what we should expect see. Because it is a small port town, there are few eating establishments but enough to find something for a couple of nights.

This is a quirky little property that may look unusual at first glance, but the owners have made every effort to make this a very comfortable place to stay! Fantastic coffee and bagels!

Excellent location and freindly staff, but room was like a dark dungeon with no fridge or TV, and hassle having to go up the hall way for the bathroom and shower. If you stay here request an upstairs room. which is lighter and there is a nice balcony

As advertised. Steps from the train station and from the ferries to teshmina and Naoshima. Great little cafe and rooms are just what you need basic and clean. Max is friendly and super cool as is Kae and the the others there. A few restaurants around the block, 7/11 next door. Ideally a bathroom in the bedroom is best but it is your own private bathroom down the hall with your key if you take that option. Loved the whole vibe. It’s not the Four Seasons but it’s not a youth hostel either. And met some great people in the cafe. Definitely prefer over more expensive options on Naoshima.

This is a sleeper hotel - looks a little basic and probably is - however totally makes up for it with the amazing staff who all speak fabulous English and can’t do enough to help you out! Perfect location for the ferry port - what more can I say?? Perfect!

Staff were outstanding. Rooms small but clean and sufficient, comfortable beds. Our room was closest to the communal dining area, and unfortunately there were some inconsiderate, very loud guests. We did not eat at Uno Port Inn but saw some other peoples' dishes which looked very good, fresh, and generous portions - we wished we had eaten there! Would definitely stay there again.

This is a special place, it is excellent. It’s a perfect option to see Naoshima and other islands. The ferry is literary steps away. Everyone speaks perfect English and are very nice. The café on the property is great. Traditional rooms are great. Each room has its own bathroom but detached – a few steps away in the corridor. This feels like a hipster place in Manhattan. Recommend highly. Also the most convenient for traveling to this area. Take a train from anywhere in Japan to Uno port and this hotel is right there in the morning take a ferry to the island of your choice.

Simple Clean Rustic
We had a nice experience at Port Uno. Ferry and hot springs are across the street from hotel. Staff is great. This is not a 5 star hotel. If that is what you want, you will pick it apart. But if you are looking for a simple, rustic, clean, safe place to stay for a day or two, Port Uno will be fine. Bathroom-shower is separate from your room, but they are just down the hall and you have your own private facilities with a key to get in. We had 4 of us in one room with individual Japanese futons. No complaints from anyone. There was room for our many suitcases. Simple cafe on site. We would return without hesitation.

Uno Port Inn is a hidden gem
Uno Port is a hidden gem of Japan and Uno Port Inn is a big part of that! Totally serious--my husband and I didn't expect much when we rolled in, we just needed a place to crash for two nights while we explored the art islands. All the staff at UPI were extremely friendly, incredibly helpful with making recommendations for the islands and providing maps and ferry timetables, plus their food is delicious and coffee top notch. The rooms are small but cozy and exactly what you need. Bathrooms are separate but are actually private--you get a key to your own bathroom down the hall. Make sure to go to the onsen near the port, it's spectacular, and eat at Uno Shokudo, an izakaya up the street. It was one of the best meals we had the whole trip.

Awesome, exceptionally friendly “funky” little Inn with knowledgeable staff. So conveniently located, directedly across the road from the Port for the boats to all islands and around the corner from the train station. Recommended & enjoyed a communal delicious restaurant around the corner-Odessa-ya-hope name is correct!! A unique, “best coffee in Japan”, coffee wagon created by Max, the engaging, enthusiastic owner is a gift to the traveller. Healthy, gluten free baked goods & delicious indoor & outdoor cafe within the inn is relaxing & lovely. Very accommodating. Highly recommend!

Stay here if you are visiting Naoshima/Teshima
Great spot if you’re traveling to Naoshima, Teshima. The staff provided indications on how to get to the islands, even reminded us of our ferry departures so we wouldn’t miss them. They offer a breakfast for a small price, totally worthy, tasty egg&bacon sandwich, kiwi/apple parfait + drink.

Location, location, location
This has the best location if you’re planning to go to Naoshima and Teshima. That’s because it’s a two minute walk to both the ferry and passenger boat to get to the islands. It’s also a two minute walk from the Uno JR train. A plus if you have a large suitcase and don’t want to drag it to the island. It’s not a fancy place. Very modest. You have to walk into the hallway to get to your personal bathroom. But you’re spending all of the time on the islands! The staff is so friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Little Inn in great location.
Stayed one night on our way to Naoshima island. Inn is in a most convenient location close to train station and ferry dock. Staff are very helpful, friendly and speak English to boot! Plus great vibe: warm, relaxed and friendly! Extremely clean room and bathroom. Hotel has a cafe with limited, but delicious menu. I recommend this place And will stay here on my next trip to the area.
