We got upgraded here to an extremely nice room, probably one of the best wet rooms I have ever seen, makes me want to redo my entire bathroom! The location is ideal, you are a 10 minute walk from the Kiyomizu-dera Temple and a 15 minute walk from the Gion district. You are only a 5 minute walk from the train station as well. Kyoto is spread out, so it's hard to find a "centrally" located hotel, but in my opinion, this is as good as it gets for normal budgets, and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Our overall 4 night stay in Kyoto at the Grand Monday was outstanding! From the Management team and to some of the staff (Vanesa, Muang, Thiri, etc.) and amenities were all amazing!
The hotel was very modern and very clean! Would definitely come back and stay there again.
