The LINE has always been my go-to staycation spot when I want to relax and escape from everyday life. I’ve stayed here multiple times and genuinely love the vibe, the cleanliness, and the perks I get as an Expedia Gold member. It’s usually a seamless, relaxing experience; which is why I keep coming back.
However, this last visit felt different in a way that made the stay feel less inviting. First, the pool now closes at 7 p.m., even on hot summer days when the sun doesn’t set until almost 8:30. That’s a big change from past stays and really cuts into the evening vibe I used to enjoy.
Second, security checked for room keys every hour on the hour while I was at the pool. I totally understand keeping the space for guests, but this felt excessive. In the past, it was more relaxed… if I had a guest stop by, it wasn’t a big deal. Now it feels like you can’t have anyone join you at all, which doesn’t match the hotel’s usual welcoming, social energy.
When I asked about the early closing, there wasn’t a clear reason given — just a vague response from security. I’m still a fan of the hotel and hope to return, but these new policies took away from the experience and made it feel more rigid than relaxing.

"Shkoder is an amazing city and Hotel Chicago is in the perfect spot. Please note, the hotel starts on the 4th floor and there are several stairs the need to be climbed to get to the elevator and then to the hotel itself. People with mobility issues should check ahead of time."
