"Unsure what makes this an eco retreat aside from the fact they ask you to bring your own water bottle to refill with water they provide and there is no hot water for showers. The property has a lot of potential but it felt maybe slightly neglected. There was a lot of debris on the ground, the kitchen area was really dirty and the room had rusty racks and shower curtains that allowed water to spray out all over the floor. "Exceptional, the best hotel, the best staff, views, amenities! The beach and the pools were great! The food was 3 stars from 5 , very expensive and is not good, buffet breakfast the best!"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham Tamarindo! The breakfast was awesome with a great variety of options, and the shuttle service was a very convenient perk for getting around. That said, there were a couple of things that could be improved. The pool bar wasn’t open during our stay, which was disappointing, and some of the shuttle times weren’t followed consistently by the staff, which made getting around a little frustrating at times. Overall, we had a nice stay and enjoyed the property, but having the pool bar open and more consistency with the shuttle schedule would have made the experience even better."

"Yes — those are useful details because they tell people what to expect and what to take advantage of while they’re there. I’d word it like this: I really enjoyed my stay at Riu Guanacaste. The resort is beautiful, and one of my favorite things was seeing the wild monkeys around the property and near the beach. Definitely take advantage of Scuba Caribe on site for excursions, and Nexus Tours also has representatives at the resort who can help with bookings. The food was tolerable, although honestly I didn’t find the food particularly good anywhere I went in Costa Rica. I don’t drink, but my family felt the alcoholic drinks weren’t very good, so that may be something to keep in mind if drinks are important to you. Overall, we had a great stay. It’s a beautiful location and a great base for exploring Guanacaste. I’d stay there again."
