"Unsure what makes this an eco retreat aside from the fact they ask you to bring your own water bottle to refill with water they provide and there is no hot water for showers. The property has a lot of potential but it felt maybe slightly neglected. There was a lot of debris on the ground, the kitchen area was really dirty and the room had rusty racks and shower curtains that allowed water to spray out all over the floor. Hotel Riu Palace Costa Rica - All Inclusive

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel was clean, but a bit outdated. The staff was very nice and hospitable. Getting the mini-bar restocked was a challenge at times, as was getting more than one towel per person. The food in the restaurants, for the most part, was good. Restaurants don't take reservations, so you do need to be in line early to get a seat. They only do two seatings, one at 5:00 pm and one at 7:00 pm. The Monkey Bar is definitely worth the walk. You'll be greeted by the monkeys along the walk, and the food and drinks are definitely authentic. (Take some grapes or bread from the buffet to have a really cool monkey experience.)"

"Stayed here for two nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The property is very well maintained and the rooms are well appointed. The beach is very safe and the water is shallow for a long time. Great spot for kids to play in the sand and water. The best thing about this experience was the staff - they were very helpful and went above and beyond in almost every interaction. Great property super close to Liberia airport."

"The views inside the hotel were amazing, especially the walkway towards the beach. The rooms are very clean and super comfortable. Staff was very helpful and super friendly, especially when it came to the free breakfast and free dinner at the location. Would definitely like to visit again!!!"

"The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was good with plenty of options to choose from. The entertainment was enjoyable but could use some improvement, as it felt a bit slow at times. The resort itself could definitely benefit from some updates. Our blackout curtains didn’t work, and the regular curtains were ripped, which took away from the overall experience. Despite those issues, the staff’s excellent service and kindness made our stay Enjoyable"

"This was a favorite property!!! Oceanfront, gorgeous pool and gardens around the property. I love their commitment to the environment and welcome the natural wildlife within the property. The staff is so friendly, always ensuring you are doing well and enjoying your time. The food at the restaurant is delicious, and you can enjoy your meal beachside if you wish. The bungalows are spacious with a beautiful outdoor shower. The beach is wonderful to swim, walk and surf. Thank you to all the staff we met and helped make our stay so memorable!"
