We got stranded from the airport closing and needed quick and close accommodations. Stari Jasen was a perfect fit- close and cost effective. Didn't get to use any of the facilities other than sleeping given that we got in very late and left very early. However, the attendant was there to greet us happily and the room was clean and comfortable.

Guesthouse Stary Jasen is a great hotel in Zagreb if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle in the town. It's in a residential location just 10 minutes away from the airport and provided parking is a plus. Our stay there was seamless.

Clean room. Our room was one flight of stairs up. Had to park outside the gate, perpendicular to the street, walk through walk gate and down about 30 (?) meters to the stairs up which were outside along the side of the building. The Bistro seemed to be closed. My husband said he felt every spring in the mattress. I slept well.

Disappointed

Proprietor was not at the property when I arrived at sunset… property was dark. There was a note on the front door to call him. I tried to call but couldn’t get through; fortunately there was another guest there who was able to reach him. He was at a soccer match with his kids but he left the key in the door. Why couldn’t he have sent me an email ahead of time to explain? The room was shabby… lower than Motel 6 standard. Table lamps did not work, there was mold in the shower. Mattress was very, very soft (my bad for not inquiring ahead of time). Owner eventually came by to collect payment and I had him replace the bulbs. The owner seemed like a nice person but I can’t recommend this property… would rather have spent a little more money for a more pleasant experience.

Not reliable, not flexible/travel-friendly

After having a road accident and being late, the owner did not want to wait a bit after midnight to let us into the hotel but just said he is closing at 00 and took our money, never refunded. Maybe the place is fine, but if you want a safe stay near the Airport (where delays easily happen due to flight delays, or like in our case, road accidents) this is not the solution. This is something small, without a reception desk 00-24. It is not clear to me how we would leave either if we would want to leave to the airport at 4 (our flight was at 6 am) if they are not working and if they lock the door.
