"The property is well situated about half way if doing the Douro drive loop. Grounds are lovely with rooms overlooking vineyards - very serene and quiet. Lots of onsite parking. Staff encourage picking and eating fruit off the trees - the oranges are excellent! There is a nice pool area.
At check in staff member was very helpful suggesting points of interest, restaurants, etc.
The room and washroom was very dated with a large veranda. There was mold on the ceiling in the washroom. The bed was horrible, it creaked and the mattress was very uncomfortable. The pillows were old and flat. Unfortunately we did not get a restful sleep.
Breakfast was good - typical continental with lots of homemade goods.

"The entire staff was congenial and very helpful.
The room was spotless, elegant, and the bed very comfortable. The French doors opened onto a small patio with table and chairs, and a view overlooking the Douro River across to hills of vineyards. The smell of the jasmine in the courtyard permeated the air.
We did not anticipate the welcome glass of port, and really enjoyed it while relaxing in the library bar. In the morning we enjoyed an English breakfast, and there were yogurts, fresh cheeses and fruit, and a huge variety of breads and pastries. One night was not enough! If you can visit this lovely part of Portugal, I highly recommend at least one night here."
"Not a typical layout for hotel as rooms are located around the property, but this just adds to the wonderful setting. Parking was easy, location to town is walkable if you want...about a mile, but nice and safe. The views are outstanding, even from my standard room. Dinner and breakfast was both wonderful.
Pinhao is a simple town, a little gritty, but in a "time forgot" kind of way, not at all unsafe. Plenty of boat options from town. Several simple restaurant options as well, plus great options for hikes right from town center or short drive up the vineyard slopes."
"Lovely and kind family run casa that is neat and clean with amazing home cooked meals that are worth experiencing. The entire family were wonderfully helpful and arranged port and wine visits and recommended amazing hikes with incredible views for us. Pool was under maintenance during our visit. "
"Absolutely lovely property and the the female member on reception was so nocecand helpful. However a major road was closed nearbtge hotel and we were not warned about his in any way and when we encountered it we were directed to a different route by the police which was the scariest route I have taken in my life of 45 mins of pure hell and my husband is a very confident driver. We then found out from the restaurant were visiting that our hotel had a private safe route which no one bothered to tell us about.
When challenged by this later the reception staff of 2 men doged every way to apologise or to take any responsibility which was disgraceful "
"The property has stunning views and spacious rooms but lack little things like tissue or a waste basket. Our room wasn’t as clean as I expected with random hair in the bathroom.
The bathroom had glass walls which is ok but a door for toilet privacy would be appreciated. The shower floor wasn’t tile but linoleum that gave way as you stepped on in.
There is a restaurant and bar. Food was tasty. Did not use the pool or spa. "
