"The Retama is a no-frills hotel that offers a practical option for travelers looking for an affordable place to stay in Machu Picchu Town, formerly known as Aguas Calientes. The standard rooms are quite small, and some of the interior rooms do not have windows. However, you can upgrade to a larger room with windows overlooking the river that runs through town.
The hotel offers a decent buffet breakfast. We did experience significant issues with the Wi-Fi, so that's something to keep in mind if having a reliable internet connection is important during your stay.
The bathrooms are also quite small, but we appreciated that the shower had plenty of hot water, especially since Machu Picchu Town can be quite cool. The bathroom faucets, however, did not appear to have hot water.
Overall, if you're looking for a basic, budget-friendly place to stay and don't need a lot of extras, The Retama isn't a bad choice."
