  • My dad's friend owns a really cool karting circuit in Pageas, a few kilometres from Chalus where I grew up in France. They are both hunters. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people from that generation in rural France do like hunting, fishing, fetching mushrooms. There are woodlands all around the karting circuit. My dad and his friend have built some platforms in the trees, and from mid-October to mid-November they go there every morning to shoot migrating birds. Those ones are some sort of wood pigeons going from Eastern Europe / Russia to North Africa. I did my own shooting that morning... with my camera! The sunrise was spectacular with some nice pink colours and mist in the valley.

Imposing Manor House set within extensive open parkland at the edge of the village. Large bedroom with modern en-suite and smart new linen. Graceful sun-terrace and well stocked library. Lovely Swimming Pool exclusive to residents. Chateau de Villars is nonetheless an upmarket Bed&Breakfast (Chambre d'Hotes); no catering apart from continental style breakfast and should not be marketed on a par with a similarly priced Hotel which would normally come with some level of all day service. Could definitely benefit from better signage/directions on entry and clean-up around the pool together with the addition of shower and changing facilities.

Séjour très réussi.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour au Château de Villars.Personnel extrêmement gentil et serviable.Côté restauration, le chef Benoît Gaucher s’est déchaîné aux fourneaux et nous a régalé pendant 4 soirs montrant une grande inventivité.Ses linguine aux truffes resteront gravés dans notre mémoire.

Superbe maison d'hôte.

Magnifique maison d'hôte, très calme, piscine, parking. Les hôtes sont charmants, les chambres vastes, confortables et très bien équipées. Le petit déjeûner est copieux (continental).
