"Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and a decent staff. My biggest complaints are the long check-in line and slow elevators. It's an older hotel which is why the rooms are bigger compared to other hotels I've stayed at in Times Square. Overall, not the most luxurious experience but I had a good stay and would consider booking again in the future."

"Horrible hotel! We were not even given the upgraded room that we paid for, so don’t bother paying for the upgrade. You are not allowed to go on the second floor mezzanine. We avoided using the blowdryer as many have mentioned online that this creates confusion with their smoking sensors and we didn’t want to get charged for that. Really rundown rooms, yuck!! Only good thing is that it’s centrally located. Elevator & Cleaning staff were the only kind staff! "

"This is really the only hotel I feel truly comfortable in - in NYC. Their rooftop bar never seems to be open when I’m there and the room service situation is kind of complicated… but otherwise I find the venue extremely comforting. "

"I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn in New York City; while the location is great, the service was disappointing—our deposit was charged twice and the reception staff were not helpful despite multiple follow-ups, forcing us to go through our bank with no clear resolution yet. The advertising is misleading as photos show balconies, but the building has none, and basic items like toothpaste were unavailable, plus the elevators were very slow."

"Really nice room. Only con is the shower stall did not have a door and that allowed water to splash out. View was okay nothing to look out about. Staff was great and accommodating. Great location. "

"I travel a lot and stay in a range of hotels. Freehand is overpriced and over rated. Staff were pretty cold and unfriendly, aside from the guys who help with the bags. No complimentary tea or coffee, just overpriced weak rubbish from the in house cafe. Rooms are dated, which is allegedly part of the charm, but pretty unclean as others have said. Doesn’t feel like a boutique/design forward experience, wish I’d stayed somewhere else. Gym was poorly equipped. Location is great, but that’s about the only good part. Horrible experience "
