Scammed! booked through Hotels.com where the property is called Wroxhall Abbey Hotel and Spa, the Spa no longer exists, when we contacted hotel prior they wouldn’t offer a refund as they advised closure is stated within small print.
Hotel is shabby, needs a lick of paint, windows need to be cleaned, terrace area in need of jet wash and weeding, broken bathroom door handle, main electrical/isolation box within the 27 acre grounds open & broken not demarcated off. Some staff’s demeanour was rude and clipped. waited 1hr for starter until told by management restaurant was closed, at least 25 guests had to find food else where, we spent £40 on Ubers and thankfully found somewhere, police in reception on our return, spoke with the couple who owned/ran the hotel, their immediate response was we can’t get the staff, they call in sick, no apology given. The impression we got was they undervalued and treated their staff poorly as with their paying customers. It’s such a shame as it’s a beautiful building with amazing grounds. They don’t let you put any drinks on your room which was strange. Positives- room was small but nice, new furniture throughout room, nice log fires in bar area and restaurant, ONLY USE THIS HOTEL AS LAST RESORT.
